Final Score
Celtics 81
Lakers 87
On the surface, not a lot of good came out of this one if you’re a Celtics fan. Then again, if you consider this was a MUST WIN for the Lakers and you figured to get their best shot, their best shot wasn’t all that impressive. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were awful. Rajon Rondo got hurt. And the C’s failed to capitalize on the continued foul problems of Lamar Odom and Vladimir Radmonovic.
There is reason for concern however, most notably the fact that L-A is back in the series and one game away from pulling even. The Rondo injury doesn’t help much, as without his tremendous speed and athletic ability advantage, he doesn’t bring much else to the table at this point of his career.
Game 4 is Thursday night….a big, big game. Your thoughts?

The Celts *NEED* to pound the ball inside to open up the outside game. Pau Gasol has to be the softest 7 footer since Ralph Sampson turned into a shadow of his former self in the mid 80's... The Lakers really have no answer for Garnett or even Perkins when they get the ball down on the block. Perkins even had time to do that ridiculous catch, then pull the ball down below his waist, then go up for a dunk when Gasol was guarding him.
I thought House did okay replacing Rondo. Took maybe 2 or 3 too many shots but the threat of him shooting did open the floor for others. Good to see Ray Allen really have a nice game. Now just need to get Pierce and Garnett going.
No way that Vujacic shoots light-out like that again but I did like the late-game approach of making guys like he and Gasol beat you by doubling Kobe - at times with Garnett.
The Rondo injury could hurt but I take heart in the fact that if this was LA coming out with all guns blazing the Celts hung right with them with 2/3 of the big three playing awful and with Rondo hurt for a good chunk of the game...

Lakers don't need anybody to stop Garnett because he and Doc are doing just fine. Neither one of them sees the need to camp a 7-footer in the paint and pound the ball to him. They're perfectly content to waste his physical advantage by having him set picks and pop out for a "J"...what the hell happened to the pick and roll? Send him TO the hoop instead of AWAY from it.
They might as well let KG play point guard if Rondo is out, since he seems so much more comfortable out on the perimeter.

Oh for the love of God Teddy, did you just realize after last night that Garnett feels more comfortable shooting his jumper than posting up??? His game has been like that forever, and he's been successful as well. He's not Tim Duncan. Think about it, Garnett only really has one post move, the little turn around that he likes to shoot. The only post presence he provides is on defense, where he is an above average shot blocker and defender. We all knew he was like this before he came to Boston, so don't complain about him playing outside on offense now in game 3 of the finals that he brought us to. Do you think at all before you write this stuff Panos?

I'm very confident in the Celtics closing the series out in LA. Gasol and Odom are really not good and the Celts will eat them alive the next game.

Garnett has to get his game back. And let's home Rondo's ankle is OK. Im lovin' House tho, perhaps he should get more play?

Never knew you were such a sports nut till you started posting here, GG. Then I walked by your hubby's studio today and noticed the Celtics sign on the front door. I'm impressed.
Yes, House will get some more play tonight, but if the Lakers pressure the ball, he'll have a hell of a time bringing it upcourt...a problem for a point guard. That's why he didn't play much vs. the Pistons.
Now then, what are the best places to eat around the Garden on game night? I was there the other night and other than "The Greatest Bar," I couldn't really think of any place else to suggest to people.

The Pushcart Cafe in the North End is lowkey, excellent pizza. As is Pizza Regina (but always a line). Check out www.thesunblog.com/gourmetgal, for more ideas.
