He Mis-Remembered

Please feel free to share your favorite recollections of today’s testimony, as I may have the same “memory issues” Andy Pettitte has and may have forgotten a few of the highlights;

***Usually, events with this much buildup disappoint. Not so in this case, as the he said/she said has been everything I’d hoped for and more. The only thing missing was the lie detector hooked up to the participants. Had they had that, I could have died and gone to heaven!

***Apparently, there are a lot of things going on in The Rocket’s master bedroom that he’s unaware of. Someone may want to perform paternity tests on Koby, Kory, Kamala, Kumbaya…whatever the K-kids names are.

***How nice of Clemens to “do y’all a favor” by inviting the nanny to his house. He should have been as helpful in advising his attorneys to turn over the information to the committee in a timely manner.

clemensattorneys.jpg***I wondered what on earth Clemens’ attorneys were thinking allowing their client to give recorded and sworn testimony on numerous occasions. Now that I’ve seen them in action, I get it…they’re as dumb as their client, believing that the louder you shout or more indignant you seem in your statement, the more believable you are. I don’t believe they’ve done their client any favors today.

***Even though I expected it, it’s still disheartening to see many of our elected officials acting as prosecutors or defense attorneys instead of searching for the truth. The one guy (Dan Burton?) should be on the Rocket’s payroll.

***Hope Debbie Clemens can scrub those Greyhound tire marks off her back. What kind of a man throws his wife under the bus, whether he’s guilty or not guilty of the accusations? Is the Hall of Fame really that important, Roger?

***Thank you Andy Pettitte, for telling the truth. You’re more man than your best friend could ever dream of being, no matter how much he puffs out his chest and acts the macho man!

debbiehearings.jpg(I’ll keep adding to this list as things unfold in the afternoon session)

***Clemens keeps looking at his notes while speaking. McNamee seems to be answering off the cuff. Realizing that all witnesses are coached extensively, I still get the impression McNamee is much more sure of his story than the Texas Con Man. (can't believe I waited this long to use that nickname!)

***Roger Cossack just made a great point on ESPN; wouldn't it have been nice to see Andy Pettitte there today so we could see his demeanor and Clemens' as one best bud had to basically call the other a liar.

***In watching the post-hearings coverage, I can't believe how much of a sleezeball Clemens' lousy-rug-wearing attorney comes off as...every bad Hollywood stereotype rolled up into one neat package.

So what have we learned today?

1. Brian MacNamee is a liar.
2. Roger Clemens is a liar and a cheat.
3. Andy Pettitte is a cheat and not a liar.
4. The 4 titles the Yankees won in the '90's are tainted.
5. A woman will try ANYTHING to try to look better.
6. Roger Clemens used Jose Canseco as analibi (HILARIOUS).
7. Congressman Burton is as un biased as WBZ reporter Steve Burton.
8. The YAnkees will hire ANYBODY, TWICE !!!!!
9. A Grand Jury will indict Clemens before the end of the summer on perjury.
10. The Knicks are PATHETIC. (unrelated, but true)

Teddy,
I think you need a 3rd option on your poll- "I can't believe either of these 2 liars". Just by their body language, the fact that Roger needed to shout to apparently make himself more believable, and all of the other shenanigans that went on I think holes can be shot (and big ones at that) into both of their stories...

DB
Yes, MacNamee is a Liar, Yes MacNamee is a drug dealer. But, all his lies which Congressman Dan Burton was referring to, were to protect the athletes he was dealing too. That makes perfect sense to me and therefore CREDIBLE.

Here's the Deal. Unless Clemens comes out and admits it, which probably will never happen, we'll NEVER KNOW. the only people who know for sure is Roger and Brian. Roger, and his council, were banking that they would appear more believable than him. Bad Move.

Teddy,
How funny was that? He blamed his mother for the B12, MacNamee for ruining his name, Hendricks for not telling him about his op to talk to Mitchell before the report was public and his lawyer for the Nanny talk. He ran home from school everyday, never took shortcuts (exception is that he doesn't carry luggage). He nearly died getting ready for the WBC and was proud to wear the USA across his chest. Gotta be one of the most spirited Americans on the planet. I believe that MacNamee is the putz, Clemens is a liar (we knew that), his lawyer is stealing his money and most congressfolks haven't a clue why they were there. How about the guy who asked "my colleague wants to know what team he will wear in the HOF", or the women with the time lapsed posters who said "you don't look any bigger to me" or the he's a titan guy... he was hilarious.

All in all, an entertaining 4.5 hrs.

Teddy,
Do you think Clemens' will buy a horse and name it "misremembered"? Kind of like what all his records will be when he becomes eligible for the "Hall of Shame"! Maybe he and Barry can become cell mates and workout together during recreation time at the MLB correctional facility!

Tonights Guest on David Letterman to read the Top 10 List: Top Ten reasons NOT to believe me about my innocence... :

10) My wife Debbie is on steroids why wouldnt I be?
9) Long time Friend Andy Petite admitted to using HGH. What makes you think we didnt do it together?
8) The Yankees ship seems to be on its way down I may as well be the one to lead the ship.
7)Only I could get older and older and still pitch better and better.
6) I have always flip flopped on baseball related issues why stop now?
5) I always wanted to change New Yorks motto from "The Big Apple" to "The Big Needle"!
4) I am trying to show the yankees and all of baseball another way to stay in the game as long as you want.
3) Now I finally came around to Barry Bonds way of thinking.
2) IF my wife gets it in the but why not me?
and the number one reason to believe Roger Clemens is NOT Innocent:
1) First we had "I Did Not have Sexual Relations With that Woman" then we had "I did NOT Inhale" thne in baseball it went to "I did NOT know what that cream was" and now "It's not my fault lets just blame it on my trainor!"

DB, I have to strongly disagree with those who think McNamee isn't telling the truth here because he's lied in the past.

Of course he lied...he was doing something illegal by selling and administering drugs! You lie, you try to hide, you do whatever you can not to get caught or get your friends/associates in trouble. But when the evidence is overwhelming and you're faced with a "tell the truth or go to jail" ultimatum, you finally start telling the truth.

Which is exactly what happened here. Throw out McNamee's word...he's a scumbag. Throw out Clemens' word...he's a bigger scumbag (is there a man/husband out there who, faced with the dilemna of defaming your wife/family, wouldn't step forth and take the heat, even if it weren't true?)...look at the corroborating witnesses and the medical testimony. Pettitte, with nothing to gain and everything to lose by fingering Clemens, still did so. So who's believable? How did Debbie Clemens know to go to McNamee to get HGH in the first place? These taped phone conversations? They weren't aimed at getting the truth, they were aimed at finding out what evidence McNamee had and what he would tell investigators.

So many things wrong with Clemens' testimony, I'd write a Moby Dick novel if I broke them all down! But I'll leave it at this; forget all the innocent until proven guiltytalk. What does common sense tell you? Did Roger or didn't he use performance enhancing drugs? What would a reasonable person say?

I'm missing the boat on this one; a lot of fans used to expect that athletes would be given a "cortisone" shot between innings when they limped off the playing field. Announcers would actually tell the fans that the trainer was administering a shot to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with a given injury. All the fans had to figure out was the "turnaround" time associated with a given injection and the player's recovery and when they'd put the drug up for sale at the local pharmacy.

Like so many people my age (fans in their 30's) I have been a fan of Roger Clemens for a Long time going back to the early days in the 80's when he was a Dominating starting pitcher for the redsox. Even when Roger went to Toronto I still rooted for him to do well. When he made it to NewYork my allegiance to him finally started to fade. I have always had a soft spot for him that is until now and that is too bad. Plain and simple he really should have just admitted to using HGH or steroids or whatever he was doing and get it over with, but NO he has to drag it all out and its too bad for the fans and especially for his family. More than anything right now I feel bad for his kids. Just make it all go away. I wish we could just get in our Delorean and go back to 1988 when he was pitching for the redsox and there was NO mentions or thoughts about steroids at all.
