World Series Game 2 Observations:
***The Sox head to the left coast with a 2-0 series lead, and the very real possibility that this series doesn’t come back to Fenway. A lot is being made about Boston losing a bat thanks to the no DH rule. Funny, but I don’t recall it being much of a hindrance when they swept the Cardinals in 2004, and St. Louis was a much better team than these Rockies. Remember; Josh Beckett is going in Game 5, so a win by either Dice-K or Lester pretty much guarantees Jonathan Papelbon won’t be doing his Riverdance on the Fenway infield, unless it’s part of the victory parade.
***Does Curt Schilling know how to rise to the occasion or what? I don’t care that he doesn’t throw the ball 95mph anymore. I don’t care that he doesn’t intimidate the opposition anymore. The man knows how to win in the playoffs, and even in this time of transition, he’s 3-0 in the post-season. He’s going to get his $13-million (or more) somewhere next year. I really hope it’s here.
***By the way, the only run Colorado did manage was tainted as far as I’m concerned. Major League Baseball has to do something about guys sitting on top of the plate and earning a free base for getting hit by a pitch that could be a strike. Sure, Schilling’s pitch to Willie Taveras was high, but it caught a nice chunk of home plate and Taveras’ hands were in the strike zone. The only thing you should be rewarded with in a case like that is a broken hand.
***What a performance by Hideki Okajima. The “other” Japanese free agent gobbling up multiple innings at a time, innings Eric Gagne was supposed to help with, was the key to the Game 2 victory in my eyes.
***Rockies rooters hoping the thin air and a change of scenery change the dynamic of the series, I have a question; do you have faith in Josh Fogg and Aaron Cook shutting down Boston’s bats? I didn’t think so!
That’s how I see it…what’s your view?

So far so good- the Sox won the blowout in game 1 and the close game in game 2.
I think it's a little quick to completely dismiss the Rockies now that they're headed home... I think they'll hit MUCH better in Colorado (how could they hit any worse?) against the likes of Dice-K and Lester. Even if Fogg and Cook can't shut down the Red Sox - if it becomes a slugfest I think you play more into the Rockies' favor with the home field. If the Sox can capture this next game then I'd say they'll finish it off in 5. Should they stumble in game 3 and/or 4 I think the Rocks have at least a 50-50 shot of bringing it back to Boston where I think the Sox would finish them off. I do think the Rockies are not quite as outmatched as people want to think- they walked way too many guys in game 2. Other than that it was quite an even game.
I still wouldn't give Schill $13 million next year- too much $$$ for a guy who may break down at any moment. If he hadn't had the health problems this year I'd say bring him back for another year but I just think he's about to fall apart- let someone else deal with it when it does happen. They do need a veteran especially if Wakefield is done but I just don't think it's cost effective to tie so much money up in Schilling anymore.

Initially I said the RedSox win it in six games and 99% of the time I stick by prediction. No offense to the Colorado Rockies, but not only will the RedSox win but they'll do it in five games if not maybe even sweep it now. Taking both games at home was bigger than most fans realize. Now to the matter of "Should Schill stay or should he go" thats the 64,000$ question isnt it or should i say the 13$Million dollar question. I say with his fire inside to win and his way to Find a win especially in October is worth the risk. Bottom Line is Theo and the Trio and and Mr. Schilling are the only people that know this answer for sure. Forget Bush and Hillary I say Vote goes to Curt Schilling for 2008.
