Bruins media day featured a little more news today than the usual meaningless soundbites and photo ops.
Gayle Simone was at the event and phoned in to say the B’s named Cam Neely Vice President of Hockey Operations, essentially taking over the duties of Harry Sinden. Whether this means Peter Chiarelli will report directly to Neely as opposed to the Jacobs boys remains to be seen. Gayle spoke with the former #8 and will have a more detailed post as soon as she gets off the highway and in front of a computer. But since I have no life and live in front of my laptop, we figured we'd break the news to you ASAP…LOL!
Till then, feel free to chime in with your comments. The cynic in me sees just another PR maneuver by a team desperate to become relevant again. However, I'll wait to read more of what Gayle has to say before passing further judgment.

Maybe Cam can be in charge of finding the next trade like the deal that brought him to Boston? Maybe trade Barry Pederson to be the Canucks' announcer for the "next" Neely player??
Who longs for those days when the Bruins made deals that turned out SO lopsided in their favor that they could literally build years of success off of a single deal or a combination of several? I guess the days of the deals for Neely, Adam Oates, Andy Moog, Reggie Lemelin, etc are over but, boy, they did make some good moves back in the day. Those moves got them into the finals twice- the homegrown guys added role players but the heart of the team was acquired in trade.
Maybe Neely can threaten to drop the gloves if an opposing hockey man won't make a deal with him??

Unfortunately it is going to take a lot longer to get the blog up because I have to run out to another assignment and I want to put the correct amount of time and effort into this all important news from the Bruins- so stay tuned hockey fans.

This is the equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig. Until the Jacobs family sells, this team is dead to me.
