You pretty much know what I think. (If not, type Barry Bonds into the SportsTalk search engine to get a mouthful)

Instead, this post is for you. I want to hear what you think of Major League Baseball's new Home Run King and his accomplishment.

Teddy

Its an accomplishment, but it's just more of a slap to the the integrity of the game.
Trully feel an eye for an eye, or in this case a needle for a needle.
Believe the only needle bonds should get is the exucution needle from the baseball hall of fame.
Def going to be interesting to see how steriods scandal unfolds....

walmor:

Good for Barry. Anyone who calls this a tainted record is a racist plain and simple.

Teddy P.:

Yeah, that's right. All the Barry-bashers are a bunch of racists who don't want to see a black man hold the most prestigious record in all of sports.

What's that? Huh? Hank Aaron was black, too? Never mind. Time to go back to the home!

T2:

There's no integrity in baseball. Baseball owners and the players union allowed this to happen. First with Sosa and Maguire to take away any bad publicity from the baseball strike as owners turned a blind eye. Then jacked up Barry Bonds enters the picture. Bonds is just a product of the greed and selfishness player unions represent. Thus, they now have a juice monkey with the most prestigious title in all of sports. What an era we live in!

I'm actually rooting for A-Rod to break that record in 6-7 years...and in a Red Sox uniform!

Tito's Terrors:

Except Canseco is threatening to write a new book about A-rod. The man knows his steroid cheats. Don't be surprised if ten years from now we feel the same way about A-rod as we do about Bonds.

Legend Killer:

If he hit 756 HR's in ONE game, NOW THAT would be impressive.

walmor:

"juice monkey" but barry bashers are not racist. And now you're rooting for a-rod. Then we'll have a gigolo with the record. Baseball sucks!! And i hope you fellas get some help with your ignorance

Shappy:

It's Not about race it's about cheating and Barry Bonds cheated the game of baseaball. Therefore his Record numbers should NOT Count! He was a Great player in the beginning its just too bad he had to go down that road...

TDOG:

Its to bad Bonds overshadows some of the stand up players in Baseball. The Mike Lowells', Tom Glavines', Jason Variteks', etc...

Players who are gentleman on and off the field

The MEN in Baseball if you will!

Rick:

Babe Ruth was king of the early power hitters era, Hank dominated the good pitching era and Barry is ruling the mediocre pitching, performance enhancement era.

No other way to put it.

Eras cannot be measured against one another.

In the early days they rode trains and did not work out unless it was spring training!!! The equipment was primitive and the balls were used the entire game in most cases. The pitcher would pitch the entire game unless he was injured.

In Hank's era there was a tremendous amount of pitching talent. ie. Gibson, Drysdale, Koufax, Marichal etc. Tough facing these guys every four days!!! The 50's 60's 70's guys are most respected by me. They may have had greenies which can be compared to todays diet pills...

Now to the present era... Tons of baseball, eras within eras. Who remembers when Boggsie hit 24 in 87? Most he hit after that was 11 in 94...
Between 77 and 94 only one man hit 50 or more. Cecil Fielder 51 in 90.

94 to 01 were the huge years.
Maris held the single season record of 61 for 37 years. It was passed 6 times in 3 years by 3 different players. Trivia? Name them...

Is there really only one home run king???

"Oh" then we need to talk further.

I believe that it would be an injustice to the "Babe", "Hammerin Hank"and "Barry" to ignore these differences in eras.

MLTHO

Teddy P.:

McGwire, Sosa & Bonds are your answer.

Pretty good summary of home run history, there.

What is MLTHO?

And just to tweak you a little since I can't find fault with anything you wrote; how'd you enjoy that throw from shallow center by Coco last night? LOL!

Rick:

You are 100% on the quiz...

Sosa three times, Mac twice and Barry once.

Don't know what happened in 2000 as there was only one 50 HR guy. (Sosa)

MLTHO would be "my less than humble opinion"...

Yeah, I cringed when I saw the throw, I thought that it was shallow enough for a play at the plate.
The defense scares me ie. Lugo, RF, Manny at times and Coco's arm...

Still a long way to go...

Teddy P.:

There is no room for humility on this blog!

A couple of weeks ago, I half-jokingly suggested Crisp would get the ball to the plate faster if he just ran it in...that looked to be the case last night...LOL!

Honestly, if he had any kind of arm, he might go down as one of the greatest defensive center fielders ever...he's that good at covering ground and playing the deep ball.

P.S. What do you think of Ryan Howard's chances to hit more than 61 one of these years? He was on pace to do it last year, until teams started walking him every at bat over the last two weeks with the wild-card chase going on. He might have done it this year, too, if he didn't miss all that time with the knee injury.

Mars Attacks:

Bonds should have been included in your scumbag poll question. What a disgrace to the great game of baseball.
