Odd Man Out

Posted by Teddy Panos, Sun Staff

I'm feeling very inquisitive this week, so here's another question for you. (I'm also up to my you-know-what in Folk Festival preparations, which is why you're getting polls instead of the well-thought out, well-written masterpieces I normally post...LOL!) As always, feel free to comment on why you voted the way you did.

Gabbard is a great trade high candidate . . . trade him for a legit right fielder!

Teddy P.:

I'm with you...get something for him before teams figure out he'll never approach even Bronson Arroyo level.

I will say, I can understand the Wakefield sentiment that's showing up so far. I do not want to see the knucleballer taking the mound in the playoffs unless the game is a blow out. Go with Beckett, Dice-K, Schilling & Lester. You don't need a 5th in October. That said, Wake is the perfect #5 guy in the regular season, isn't he? We shouldn't be so quick to bury him for someone (Gabbard) who's very likely a flash in the pan.

T2:

Wakefield being the consumate team player, won't complain even if he is thrown back in the bullpen. He never has and never will. That's why he's so important to this team.

On another note, can you belive the Sox are the winningest team in baseball despite the lack of late inning heroics from Big Papi this year?

Shappy:

Okay Teddy your issue is who to take out of the starting rotation once Schilling is back and healthy which will Hopefully be soon. Well here is your breakdown: Tim Wakefield well what more can I say for as long as he can pitch he should Always be in the starting rotation with all the innings he can give and more times than not they are successful outings. Kason Gabbard has done well overall so far, but I still believe he should be in the bullpen for long relief or in Pawtucket. Now of course we come to Jon Lester; I have waited eleven months for him to make his triumphant return and he did so on the road. He did a great job his first time back. I like most others now cant wait to see him pitch in Fenway Park again after everything he has been through its a cliche but true What a Great Story!!! Sorry Kason but you should be the odd man out.
