According to TSN-Canada, Marco Sturn has signed a 4-year, $14 million dollar contract to keep the left winger from testing free agency come July 1. The Bruins have not yet confirmed the deal is done.
Sturm enters tonight's game against the Florida Panthers with 20 goals and 11 assists.
Also according to TSN the Bs have claimed goaltender Joey MacDonald off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings, again nothing from the Bruins to confirm the report.

Ok, I feel like I am living in bizzaro world. Why in the world would the Bruins pick up ANOTHER goalie? Some smells fishy on Causeway Street and I get the feeling the Bruins might be up to something. Bruins have confirmed the pickup and have said MacDonald is taking Murray's spot on the roster, which I totally dont get. Why are they carrying 3 goalies? I get the feeling someone is on their way out, and maybe the Bruins might be trying to make a package to get somethng significant for a playoff run.
1-5, 3.46 GAA, .872 Save %...maybe they're just trying to corner the market on bad goaltenders?
On a more serious note, I like the way they've played since the trade. Maybe Ference doesn't have Stuart's size, but he sure plays bigger, doesn't he? And as a result, the entire team has stepped it up a notch on defense.
I just hope they don't do anything stupid and sacrifice the long-term goals for a playoff push that we all know isn't going anywhere.
Teddy -
I couldn't agree with you more about Ference. He is playing like he has a lot more size on him. Stephen Gionta of the Lowell Devils plays like that - the kid is 5-foot-7 and buries guys that are 6-foot-2.
As far as picking up MacDonald - I have a feeling that GW is right they may be putting a package together - although he had no clue about them claiming MacDonald off waivers until I told him - LOL.
Signing Sturm shows they are thinking about the long-term goals not just the here and now - JMO.
My guess is Hannu is going somewhere but where?
Too bad the Wings didn't have to waive Jimmy Howard- at least take a shot at a guy who was dominant in Hockey East... As a UML alum I always thought the B's should have made a move to acquire Roloson- that guy is better than just about every goalie they've had for the last ten years. Oh for the days of the Lemelin/Moog tandem!
Good to see the re-signing of Sturm- at least they kept SOMETHING from the trade of Jumbo Joe. Now they need to get themselves some healthy forwards to play with him.
