Monster Offense Finally Shows Up

Posted by Gayle Simone, Sun Staff

If you missed last night's Bruins game, you missed a good one.

Marco Sturm exploded for a hat trick, Marc Savard added two power play goals and two assists and Patrice Bergeron had five helpers as the Bs defeated the Senators 7-2 - not too shabby!

What's great for me is that I was finally able to trade for Savard in my fantasy league!

What bothered me was every single time Zdeno Chara touched the puck he was booed by the Ottawa faithful - no offense but get over it. The Senators said all along they were not going to be able to keep both Chara and Wade Redden.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't boo any opposing player no matter if I like them or not - just not my style.

I only hope the Bruins team that showed up last night is the same team that shows up at the GAHDEN tomorrow for their game against Vancouver - I might want to bench Luongo for the game (he's my goalie).

I was listening to Dale and Holley a little earlier today and someone called up and started to call out Chara so to speak.

It was the best hearing Dale scream at the guy, I don't remember exactly what was said, but it was something like this -"They win 7-2 and you call to complain about Chara? Have a Merry Christmas." and then Dale hung up on him. GO DALE!

Now, before anyone says it, yes, I agreed with Dale. You could not find one thing to complain about in last night's game. The Bruins showed up to play, skated a full 60 minutes and went for the jugular when Ottawa's neck was exposed so to speak.

Gayle, how could you write an entire piece about that game and not once mention Tim Thomas. You've been touting this guy over Hannu all year, and then he plays the best game of his career and you don't even give him props. If that were me, I'd have tossed out about 25 "I told you so's." Your restraint is amazing....LOL!

On a serious note...Thomas made some incredible, "how the #*&% did he stop that" saves last night. Where the hell has that been his entire career? If he were a baseball player, we'd all think he was on the juice...that's how much he's improved!

HAHA very funny Teddy, I honestly didn't mention Thomas because I felt that he was completely over shadowed by the offense.

Yes, Thomas was once again solid in net and he did make some spectacular saves, but to be honest with you - I really didn't even pay attention to him on the ice - he seemed to be a non issue last night JMO.

Yes, he faced 37 shots (35 saves) but again in all honesty - I didn't even notice him for half the game.

Maybe we should be paying a little more attention Gayle? I used to be a huge Bruins fan, however i have recently become disenchanted with Hockey alltogether. The game seems to slow and sloppy now. However, since my cousin purchased a new HDTV, my interest in the sport has been rekindled. It really does make a difference. Kinda like when the puck used to glow on TV a few years ago but much better.
