Heavyweight Slugfest!

(Editors note: the following really has nothing to do with sports. Too bad...it's my blog and I'll talk about anything I want to talk about!)

While the sport of boxing can’t seem to generate much excitement these days, the celebrity fight game is reaching new heights.

This week’s verbal slugfest between Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump was one for the ages…a pair of championship-caliber windbags getting down and dirty in front of a national television audience. The only thing missing was Howard Cossell screaming; “Down goes Rosie! Down goes Rosie!

Let’s get this straight; I’ve never been a fan of The Donald. But after the vicious counter-punches he threw O’Donnell’s way, he’ll forever hold a special place in my heart. While comments like “fat ass and “I’ll send someone to steal her girlfriend might be mean-spirited, they’re well deserved for a loudmouth who’s made a career of spouting off about people who she knows very well won’t fight back because of the positions they’re in.

Rosie and her Hollywood brethren have every right to their opinions. What they don’t have a right to do, however, is to basically denigrate and insult people who don’t happen to share those opinions. Criticism is fine…personal attacks are not. And that’s exactly what O’Donnell and friends resort to when they don’t like someone’s political positions, knowing full well elected officials can’t fire back for fear of “lowering themselves to her level.

Thankfully, Trump has no problem getting down and dirty. The well known rule in fights of any kind is you’d better be prepared to fight fire with fire. And so when Rosie unleashed an unprovoked and personal attack on The Donald, Trump responded with verbal haymaker after verbal haymaker. Like all bullies, Rosie backed down and stayed silent, only Trump kept coming and coming the next day.

Teddy’s scorecard scores it: A 2nd round knockout for the new, undisputed heavyweight windbag of the world…..DON-ald T-RUUUUUMP!

What did you think of this week’s verbal heavyweight slugfest? What would you give to see the two of them in a boxing ring? Who would win?

Just Like Ellen Degeneres, Rosie was funnier when she was ambiguous. Now she's just a ornery 300lb Janeane Garofalo ....

I can't remember who said it but the best comment came from a television comedian who said Trump gave her a Butch-Slap
