O'Connell Iced!

News Flash: The Bruins fire General Manager Mike O'Connell and replace him with Assistant GM Jeff Gorton. According to team President Harry Sinden; "It was not proper to let him keep doing what he was doing, signing players, making plans for the future, when we knew that at the end of the year we were going to relieve him of his job."

Teddy’s Take: Perhaps Sinden and Jeremy Jacobs should have thought of that before letting O'Connell trade away Joe Thornton and Sergei Samsonov, the B's two best players? What a joke!!!

Since Sinden isn't part of this front office purge, it’s not going to make a bit of difference. My hunch is Gorton is just going to finish out the season and a full-scale search for a permanent replacement will begin. But if it’s Sinden leading the search, Black and Gold fans are just in for more of the same old-same old.

So what do you think B's fans? You happy? Will this turn the team around or is it just the first step in a major housecleaning?

It's about time, but like you said if Sinden is calling the shots then it's business as usual!! The Bruins organization is in shambles and people still spend their hard earned money on the trash they place on the ice at TD... We Greater Lowellians are fortunate to have quality hockey being played in our own backyard down at the Tsongas Arena. Thank goodness Jacobs didn't purchase the Lock Monsters he'd have that falling apart too!! If I were a betting man I'd bet the Devils would win another Cup before the Bruins.

It made me sick to see Sinden up there explaining to the media why he let O'Connell go now. Didn't want him to be making any player acqs while they knew they were getting rid of him anyway.

Good thing we have Sinden in place to relieve a great team that's thriving and has been for years from a coach that's not doing his job. Sinden, shove it right up your you know what.

looks like San Jose will make the playoffs, Jumbo Joe is second in the league in scoring and NOW they fire O'Connell when it should of been done before theat ridiculous trade....talk about pouring more salt in the wound!!
