Rib and Brews redux

LS_091009_buzz1.jpg I don't know about you, but I've had nowhere near enough BBQ this summer, ditto beer. Not even close. Thankfully the good citizens in Lowell's emerging JAM area are firing up the grills next Sat., Sept. 12 to fill us up w/ charred meat from the Village Smokehouse, Garcia Brogans, MSM Ribs of Dorchester and the culinary whiz kids at UTEC. Eclectic, I'll admit, but the remake of Lowell's Rib n' Brews Festival, now called Major JAM'N, intrigues none the less. Since we are officially entering the beer season, Berkshire Brewing Company (big ups), Peak Organic (makers of a dynamite espresso ale), and Lowell Beer Works gives this outdoor taste-off some cred. Get your fill for $25, from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. Jackson Street, next to the Early Garage. Come hungry, or don't come at all.

Holding a rib in your hands while tearing the meat off with your teeth. Washing it all down with a good IPA. Life is good my friends.............

I'm looking forward to it, I miss the Rib n' Brews fest...well, when it was downtown anyway. The thrill was lost for me when they moved it to the Tsongas arena. That also happens to be the day of the Culture Fest. It's going to be a fantastic day in Lowell!

is there an Official Site for this event with more info?

Where on Jackson st? No offense, but that's not really an area I just want to wander down looking for the venue.

Was at Mt Snow for their Brewers Fest yesterday (Sat 9/5). BBC had a booth, when questioned the attendants didn't know about the Lowell event. Hopefully they were just some local helpers not in the know. Is this happening at Majors or at the new garage? I don't understand if this is a Major's event or a town event. Looking forward to it.

yes, this is sponsored by Major's Pub, not the city. No website. Meet near majors/early garage to get your swine on.

Seriously? There's a Pub, a parking garage, a condominium complex, and a construction site.

I'm not sure which is more ridiculous, that you are afraid to walk down a street, or that you think you're going to have difficulty finding a FESTIVAL on a street that is straight, wide open, and less than a quarter mile long!

Some people just love to find ways to complain!

You know, "no offense" doesn't mean you get to say whatever you want after it. Peter Rollins lives on Jackson Street and thinks it's a great place to be. No offense, but if you can't find a festival on a street that's maybe 200 yards long you probably need to "eat" through an IV anyway, so why bother going to a rib fest?! No offense.

I absolutely agree with Peter Rollins and MGG. The JAM area is where it's at and luckily ignorant perceptions won't stop it's progress.I applaud JAMBRA and Major's Pub for bringing this festival back to life. It's exciting to see the area get better and better. I was at Garcia Brogan's last night and had a fabulous time with friends. Good food and drinks. Excellent service and atmosphere. I was delighted to see that the restaurant was hopping for a Wed. night. Jen Kearney (great musician and JAM area resident) was performing on the Irish side. My friends (none of whom live in Lowell) were so impressed. It was great to show off my neighborhood!

Loving lowell, move to chelmsford!

I used to live on Jackson St. and I agree with Loving Lowell. That area hasn't miraculously transformed just because a few people here would like to think so. There's nothing ignorant about it and the responses to the post were far more offensive. I hope the JAM area is someday "where it's at" but for now it isn't.
