Staycation, all I ever wanted

Cancel your beach rental on Natucket, 86 the trip to the Rivera, Greater Lowell is the place to be this summer if you like to dine and drink. Everybody in? The long-awaited opening of Tuttobene, the Gazebo Cafe, Cafe Madrid and Restaurant Showcase Week are a fab fourfer worth kicking it local. Tuttobene, the high-end gourmet wine and cheese cave on Prescott St., opens June 23. Dick Rourke finally secured a liquor license last week and is testing the cuvee system as I write. I love the idea of interrupting my evening powerwalk to swing in for elite chocolates, imported olives, a bottle of barolo and a hunk of gouda. That might negate my walk, but ... The Gazebo Cafe re-opens June 19 with gyros, salads, steaks and a full-dinner menu with a Grecian bent. The Dutton Street find, tucked into the American Textile History Museum, should make Sun employees happy and appease fabric junkies everywhere. Greater Merrimack Valley Restaurant Showcase kicks off the first week in August, and Cafe Madrid moves to its new location on 110 (where Skips was) at the end of the month. That enough?
