All fired up

steak.jpg Blood Farm in Groton has thick filet minots ready to slap on the barbe. Just sent an intern to check it out and he returned w/ pix of beef hanging in a meat locker. I'd post it here, but I don't want PETA on my tail. Trust me, it's so Rocky 1.
They make sausages too and ground their own beef. What mooooo-re could you want? Now I'm craving steak, burgers, anything that bleeds. Not the best weekend to slap something on the grills, but not the worst.
Years ago I bought two thick, marbely steaks from Lowell Provision to lure a certain man into my life. It worked! Listen up ladies, a succulent steak (served w/ a rare bottle of Bordeaux) will get you a husband! Mark my words. These are the new Rules.
Where do you go for your fresh meat?

I like to go to Alpine Butcher in Chelmsford. They have everything you need for a dinner, including the wine. Can be pricey at times but the meats really are good.

I like Brown & Budnick up 38.

In downtown Lowell, the One World international market on Bridge st has some good options. All the meat is Halal. They have fresh chickens either whole or cut for you on the spot. They have more, including lamb & goat, but so far I've just had the chickens.

Shaw Farm (the dairy) has great ground beef.

Phil at Alpine Butchers in Lowell aims to please!! He gets me any cut of meat I ask for right away or the next day. He also carries fish too. He told me that he uses a guy out of Westford that is a one man show. He goes out at the crack of dawn every Wednesday and bids on freshly caught fish. OMG! His entire shop is amazing...Boars Head, Ahi, Sole, Filet, Lamb, Napa red wines, and tons of high end grocery items. I was a Butcher Boy customer for years until I discovered this place only 5 minutes from home. WORD OF ADVICE: Don't be afraid to ask for something that is not displayed in the case! He most likely has it.

Blood Farm in Groton can't be beat. They cut the meat to your specifications and it's by far the best fresh meat around. You won't find anything fresher, customers make the drive from all over the state. Money savings tip: Stock up on the first Friday & Saturday of each month to get 5% back when you use your Lowell Five debit card. Excellent deal!
