Three cheers for Mary

great bloody mary's.jpg This is not a mom blog, but there are times when even the most childless among us feel obliged to give a shout out to the matriarchs in the Merrimack Valley. I know it's late to give recommendations for this Sunday's Mother's Day dining extravaganza, but the bloody mary bar at Cobblestones caught my eye. Doctor up mom's drink with infused vodkas, hot sauce, marinated cucumbers, olives, jalapenos, etc. What mom wouldn't blush at this fun addition to the Dutton Street eatery's brunch buffet?

And speaking of the tomato cocktail that's ruled the weekend table for eons, i'd like to throw down this gastro gauntlet: who makes the best? The Old Court was in the running, but they foolishly dropped their brunch. Jerry, Finbarr please return to your sense! Now that you have those sliding windows going, you could be slamming on Sundays this summer. There is a dearth of bangers and mash in DTL. I suspect their mary's are still marvy.

On looks alone, the Blue Taleh's bloody is a show-stopper. Anyone make their own? I know there are some divine BM spots in Boston, 75 Chestnut comes to mind. But only go if you have too much cash lining your pockets that you need to unload, or you'll be mad at me ($$$). Just discovered that High Street Grill in N. Andover has a DIY bloody bar, I'm likin' this trend.
Happy M-day Merrimack Mommies.

Hey G.G.

I just wanted to fill you in on some deliciousness going on at Market St. Market!
They have yummy yogurt, fruit and granola parfaits freshly made along with some delicous looking baked goods. Did i mention the coffee? Fabulous high octane stuff!

For lunch my co-workers and I have been going crazy over the honey turkey, swiss and avacado on fresh tuscan bread. To die for!! They have little tables outside and the place looks great. Every week they are stepping it up more and more. This place is great and we are so happy that they opened their doors!

I gotta say, I'm a sucker for a parfait. Good tip April, I need to stop in every week!

I have to say that Christophers on Mass. Ave in Cambridge makes a sick Bloody!

GG; Although we were booked solid for Mother's Day, thanks for the mention. Credit is due however to our inspiration, and an all time favorite Boston "joint", The East Coast Grill in Cambridge. A bunch of us went for brunch in April and made many "research" related visits to their Bloody Mary Bar, which is now the SECOND biggest one of it's kind!!!
**Also, have to agree with April; Market St Market..Nice Job!!

Fishbones in Chelmsford Ct. makes one of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had. The mix is great and it comes with a jumbo shrimp. Kind of like a cross between a Bloody Mary and a shrimp cocktail.
