Celts have been kicking butt, Bruins need a comeback and the Sox are always a safe bet. With so much great sportage falling during the almighty dinner hour this spring, where's the best place to catch the fever and a feast? Last night I found the Blue Taleh's sushi bar to be most palatable, with a perfectly placed screen front and center. And the noise level isn't through the roof. I enjoyed veggie tempura (love the broccoli). Rondo was awesome, but I was a tad disappointed w/ the volcano. This used to be the Kearney Square bar's signature dish. But the mound of tuna rolls topped w/ crab slaw was not even toasted. The blowtorch, like Garnett, is the key to making this dish crackle and pop. Please return to your former glory KG and oh great volcano. I spied a nice-looking bloody mary sailing through the air. A mound of shredded carrots made it look healthy and happy. Another good spot for game day grub, I suspect, tho have not tested, is the Village Smokehouse. What with its seven or so screens and high-top tables and meat-forward guy food, it's a slam dunk. What's in your line of scrimmage?
Side dish: Camera crews from the Foodnetwork were shooting at Focaccia's in Wilmington last week for the upcoming show Chefs vs. City. Brothers in apps. Peter and Bob De Pesa raced around their Route 129 kitchen for the kitch reality show that airs in August. The chef/owners were the only duo selected from NE to compete. Nice job men.
Lowell Beerworks is a great place to catch C's and Bruins playoff games or the boys of summer. Try to the Blueberry Beer packed flavor and floating fruit! But don't just stick to the local brews - take a peek at their hefty menu! I recommend the Chop Chop Chop salad and a side of sour cream fries!
GG...you know I love it when you talk C's and Food!
I was watching and eating in the comfort of my own home last night when House brought the house down, and I feel you on missing the K to the G. As for the best spot to watch a game, I think it's a tie between the Village Smokehouse and the Lowell Beer Works. The food at the smokehouse isn't always the greatest, pulled pork is a little bland and has been brought to me cold both times I ordered it...but, I like their take on chili and can't complain about the mound of melted cheese on top, although they have the widest and most awkward soup spoons on the planet, which hurts the chili experience a bit. Can you talk to them about replacing those shovels with something that fits a human sized mouth? As for the Ribs, I heard they're delish...but, have yet to try them. Great TV setup and love the long bar, the fact that they have live music is also a bonus. Beer Works has awesome burgers and awesome fries...never really had anything else there. I also love the fact that they have Heffeweizen's and Wheat Beer's, that's always a bonus in my book. And...if you're feeling crazy you can take a walk upstairs and ride on the crazy mechanical bull. Although watching others fall off that thing is way more fun than being the one falling off yourself.
sour cream fries? explain please. is the chop chop a cobb situation? I love a nice bite o' cobb salad.
GG: If it is the same fries as the Boston BW, they are french fries sprinkled with sour cream and chive powder and served with ranch dressing. Very good!!
I like Beer Works and all, but I think I'd get a neck cramp watching the game there!
