Praise be, the House of Blues in Boston has launched its gospel brunch. Biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, blackened catfish and cheese grits may not sound like perfect summer grub, but this is a once-a-year splurge. I'm willing to skip the day at the beach to chow down, and enjoy a cocktail or two, at the Landsdowne Lounge. This Sunday the show starts at 10 a.m.
And speaking of a.m. blues we had a ho-hum (OK, sad) breakfast at Mr. Jalapeno's over the weekend. Never should have done it. I understand Mr. J has been busy at night, so why (oh why) delve into the competitive morning mangia already locked down by the Club Diner, Arthur's and The Owl. I feel bad posting this becuz the owner Ricardo is one of the nicest proprietors in DTL. He slung together two plates that resembled the menu offerings (sort of) after a good 40 minutes ( i ran to CVS while Gourmet Guy waited) we were eating. And the coffee? What happened to the altura?

I'm twitter-illiterate, so I don't know if I can comment to you there. Yes, Cake was awesome, and had they gone any harder with the Lowell trivia questions, I might've gone home with a tree (if I wasn't in the balcony!) but what was up with Paradiso being closed an hour early? Wonder if it had anything to do with the unarmed robbery a few hours earlier outside the Village Smokehouse. Was amusing to watch some Lowell visitors get held up by an LPD perimeter after the show as half the cruisers in the city descended on Canal Place looking for someone who had fled in a car and then on foot just before 11. Never a dull moment downtown, that's for sure!
