Foodies alert!

It was almost a year ago that DTL pizzeria Angelina's shuttered. Since then, this empty space next to Hookslide Kelly's has been a sad reminder that the v. best intentions can go belly up. So it was w/ relief and excitement that we rapped on the Merrimack Street window last night to find a bubbly woman named Leah turning the space into Foodies -- a new comfort food restaurant. Mac and cheese ("not the little plates"), pizza ("thin crust, not too thin") are the menu secrets she shared. Disappointed with the sangria from an unnamed Merrimack Street establishment (wouldn't be Ole would it?), she is determined, if she can score a liquor license, to do one better. "My family has a house in Spain, I know sangria." I like this broad's bravado. She's painting the walls a palatable green and plans to cozy up the joint for a July opening.
