Went to my first beer dinner Fri. night @ Summer Winter and now I know why beer guys always look so damn happy. The old me used to think beer and food pairings were a non-starter. Beer, while refreshing after a round of tennis, does not get sucked down w/ a forkful of lasagna. Was I ever really that benighted? The nut brown ale from Peak Organic was described as chocolatey, which immediately got my attention. Served w/ a slab of tangy ribs, marinated in this awesome amber, made this course (left) a joy to indulge. The new "crushed" potatoes were up there w/ sex, cake and candy and were a nice counterpoint to the beer's rich, nutty taste. Brewed in Maine's (where all good things are birthed) Peak Organic
had me at hello, but the last punch pulled, was the true KO. Espresso Ale served w/ cookies and a milkshake. Every kid's dream. Made w/ Fair Trade coffee by Portland's Coffee by Design, the espresso ale was enough to send me into toxic shock (in a good way). Rumor has it this brew is/or has been on tap at Cobblestones and Village Smoke House in Lowell. The effect of a shot of espresso in clean, rich ale was the perfect pick-me-up after a full feed. If you ever get the chance to go to a Peak Organic dins, don't hesitate and don't eat lunch.
A Peak performance

GG,
Lovin this whole beer direction! Peak Organic is amazing, and the owners are real stand up. Cool that the "organic", um, nature, of things doesn't come at the expense of a great brew. We carried the Espresso Ale for awhile. Insane! (But it was keeping me up all night) Now we feauture the Pomegranate Wheat, for those who go for that sort of thing! It has it's fans too.
On a side, we met with Bret and Suze from the Lowell Film Collaborative this weekend. Great folks, great energy, great mission. Thanks to you and The Sun for "introducing" us through your blog. We would love to see them suceed in bringing otherwise "never to be seen" films to Lowell, and will do whatever we can to help! It would be great if The Sun continues to support this new, local venture. What a great coup for the City if they succeed!!! See you at the movies. (a week from Thursday?)
I just tried Peak Organic at the beer tasting Swan Chocolates held (courtesy of Bellevance Beverage Co.) at the Taste of Downtown in Nashua last week...great beer! Thanks for the tip!
Was this a beer and chocolate tasting? Brilliant!!!!!!
