Would you believe this gorgeous mushroom, leek and gruyere pizza can be yours for loose change? Yes, I met fellow Lowell
blogger Marianne Gries on Friday at Market Basket and the crafty foodie who decamped to the Mill from San Francisco spilled the secrets of the thrifty gourmet. I was so impressed at the meals she shops for every week for 60 smacks that I rushed home and made my own pie. Find out more in the Sun's Frugal Friday section this week.
This za was so easy to make and costs around $6. We had leftovers to boot.
And speaking of fast and easy, I had top quality Chinese at Wah Sang the other night. And I wasn't the only one doing the Wok walk. The Chelms. St. spot was packed. Sure you can order your egg rolls to go, but the open-kitchen is hilarious to watch. A better oiled machine, you will not find in the MV. Wonton soup was loaded w/ veggies and a large is a filling meal! Nice moshu pork and lomein. Wah Sang all the way.

Ah Wah Sang! The love of my life. The best Chinese take out in the area! It's no frills and pretty greasy, but NOTHING beats a number 10 sometimes!
The best thing at Wah Sang are the crab rangoons. Whatever they put in the filling makes them better than any other I have ever tasted. In fact, my friends and I compare every crab rangoon we try to theirs.
There are great Chinese places in the area with really fresh food and a more upscale enviroment...a la Feng Shui, but the good ol Chelmsford Street joint is legendary.

Wah Sang has the best hot and sour soup around!! It's amazing how bland other restaurant's version of this soup is once you've tried Wah Sang's! Even high end chinese restaurants like Feng Shui can't top it!!

Wah Sang? I ate there exactly once. It was awful. Even a Gourmet Gal recommendation can't get me to go back!
