A new restaurant called Time Out Cafe has opened in Bad Dawgs' space on Merrimack St. There is a language barrier, but the place is a heck of a lot cozier than the baddest dog in town. The owner was slinging tapas at Ole next door. Nice loungey seats, a blackboard of specials and a menu with a nod to these frugal times. The time bomb sandwich — steak, chicken and pastrami, is $6.50, the Havana, pork, ham and Swiss, is $6 and a hot dog a mere $1.50. I wanna know if these pups are better than the last wieners to be boiled on the premises. I also hear a new sandwich shop is moving to Market St., next to the newish convenient/candy store, formerly Niki Tsongas' election HQ. Market Streets where it's at folks, get used to it.

Holy crap, how many more sandwich shops can we possibly squeeze into downtown???
I'm really not a fan of boiled dogs...I think its just wrong....I definitely prefer the flavor and snap of a grilled dog. However, the Havana sounds good. Do you have any more info? Is it going to be a cuban sandwich shop?
I wouldn't say it's Cuban, perhaps Cubano Americano? They serve classic clubs and nicely priced egg and cheese sandwiches. A Caesar salad goes for $3.50 add chix for 75 cents. Can't beat that w/ a blunt knife.
Thanks for the scoop...I'll have to do a walk-by this weekend to check out the menu.
can you please tell me why Bad Dawgs went out of business . Thank You
