Get plated

Great Plates of DTL is in mid-swing and a quick look at the menus yield deals that equal steals. For instance, lunch at Centro is a mere $7. That’s a three-courser with soup/salad, seared chicken over risotto topped w/ seasonal vegetables and a coconut curry cream sauce. This includes chocolate mousse w/ fresh berries. Last time I checked, a to-go salad could not be had for that price. The other deal that caught my eye was dinner at Life Alive. Unless this is a misprint, the Middle Street organic house is offering an emperor, Goddess or magician (heaping bowls of deep greens spiked with smoked garlic lemon tofu on rice or fresh greens — good for ya grub) w/ a side plus a ginger crush or iced coffee for $7. Finally it pays to go organic. Open up your wallets people so we can continue to have multi-dining options. La Boniche, I noticed, is offering a gourmet threefer din for $25 — the limit is $33. Props to Anna for keeping it real. I’m def. tucking into a Great Plate this weekend. you?

One of the best ideas Ever by the Chamber of Commerce. I've been going to places all week.
Ricardo's was unbelievable last night. I had some specialty pizza (i forgot what it was but it was delicious). I also had a filet with lobster mashed potatoes. It was unbelievable, and I never really liked ricardo's before. I have also visited the athenian and cobblestones, both were fantastic. I'll skip life alive organic tofu and greens with ginger iced coffee does not sound too appealing to me. I do want to try La boniche. I don't care much for the french but i hear their sauces are fantabulous!! I'm anxious to try. This was a great idea. I've been running around downtown in circles trying to decide on places to dine at. This is the most exciting thing to happen in our wonderful city since the summer 0f '06 when we had all those homicides. Thank you to the chamber, and to all of the wonderful establishments who are participating. You have made the Gobbster a very happy man... my overweight wife is equally happy

We went to La Boniche last night and it was fantastic, and what a value - 4 (not 3) courses for $25. Hadn't been there in quite some time and were pleased to rediscover the experience. I realized how much I missed their food; it is so comforting and creative at the same time. My mouth watered just hearing the descriptions of the dishes. The only complaint is that at the end of the meal, I had asked for my uneaten food to be wrapped to go, and I never got it. Unfortunately I didn't realize until we were in the car (too much wine!).

I hope the participating restaurants consider holding this event on a regular basis!

LostInLowell:

I had the Emperor at Life Alive last weekend and it was very tasty. Life Alive serves up some of the best, freshest, healthiest food I've ever had at a restaurant. The flavors are amazing, who knew veggies could taste so good?

I also had dinner at Blue Taleh one night this week, we never saw a Great Plates menu. Maybe they're doing lunch-only? The meal was fantastic, had the garlic pepper tofu with rice. I love that the owner is out on the floor, filling water glasses and chatting with customers.

This week I ate at the Athenian Corner and Cobblestones. Both times I was so full that I had to take my dessert to go!

Between the appetizer, entree and a glass of wine to wash it all down, I felt like I was rolling out of the restaurants and into my car!

I can't wait to keep on eating off the Great Plates menu for the next week!

Jim Lee:

Delightful lunch at Centro today. Rich, beefy soup followed by superb curried chicken breast--and the Menage-A-Trois white wine was a nice match. One of the best meals I've had in some time. Although not a big fan of the chocolate mousse dessert, the 3-course meal was quite the deal at just $7.

Lovesfood:

I've been to Athenian Corner and Tabocas Steakhouse this week, thanks to the Great Plates. Both restaurants had delicious food, a nice atmosphere, and had made my dining experience really enjoyable. I would definately go back to both places in the future. But, I am glad there is still one more week left for Great Plates so I have an excuse to try out some of the other featured restaurants!

Loves dining out:

We have eaten at both Ricardo's and Cobblestones for great plates. We frequent Ricardo's and as usual the food was outstanding and the service was great. We ordered the filet with lobster mashed and the haddock with risotto. We also indulged in the lobster stew... which was absolutely fantastic. Must admit not a big fan of their balsamic viniagrette... too sweet for my liking. Last night we went to cobblestone's and were disappointed to learn that great plates was only offered in the dining room... and we had scored a table in the lounge. Nonetheless we stayed put and just ordered off the regular menu. Delicious black bean chili.. def. has a spicy kick. Hubby ordered the chicken marsala which was served upon a generous portion of thick egg noodles. Have we forgotten how great those noodles are? Step aside angel hair. I had the Lobster and crab salad piled on a house salad. It was good. Might not order it again. Normally I get the meditteranean plate for my meal, but wanted to try something new. This has affirmed that I do not like change. : ) Anyone heard anything about Tabacos?

A Fan:

We waddled out of LaBoniche last night after taking part in their Great Ate specials... Try the bread pudding, it's so yummy and the tomato/crab bisque was awesome.
Four courses were quite a bargain. Always enjoy going there.
