Steak Bomb soup from French's in Tewksbury. The little blue shack that could, KO'd the big boys at last weekend's Soup Bowl Comp at Winterfest 09. Seemed judges have a weakness for shaved slices of meat. Many soup names don't live up to their billing; this one did. The brilliant sandwich-to-soup-transition put it over the top from the contenders. Ricardo's was a close second, I hear. Saints Medical Center's chicken duchess nabbed the People's Choice. Nice work hospital people.
Chowderheads, do you agree w/ the illustrious judge's decision? Or do you demand a recount? I think it's nice when a little guy wins and this Route 38 stop has 30 soups on tap daily. Makes me almost want to go to Tewksbury. Next time I need a routine exam, I'm booking a table at Saints.

Thanks, GG! I don't live far from French's, but have never been. A friend thinks they have the best fried clams in Greater Lowell. Between that and the soup, we must get there soon!

I drive by French's every day on my way to work, and never would have guessed it had award-winning fare! I will definitely have to give it a try one of these days.
