Valentines vittles

romantic-dinner.jpg It's early. I admit it. Cupid hasn't even struck yet, but this is a gentle reminder that if you plan to dine out on Feb. 14 you better act now. The best tables will be gone. So where to go? Don't make this another night out at the Glenview. Romance and rigatoni have to be in the air. Also don't make it stressful. Should be a relaxing night of good eats with ample time to gaze lovingly into each others’ eyes. I realize I lost a few of you already, sorry singletons.
My picks for restaurant romance are Glory in Andover, Moonstones in Chelmsford and Belles Bistro in Westford. They are all nearby and have that special factor. From fireplaces, to lowlighting to servers w/ a clue, these spots will treat you like the luckiest lovebirds since the Brady Bundchen. As for the food? Val Day is like the special food Olympics. Chefs try to one up each other and roll out some pretty darn tasty fare. Special menus are being created as we speak so you’re not delving into the same special you had last time. Chocolate is factored in heavily and expect creative rich sauces and adventurous spice. Of course dining in can be as, if not more, romantic. You can go crazy w/ decor and if you want seconds there’s always more. How do you plan on spending VD?

VD for us will be spent in the woods of Maine. Might as well enjoy the snow since it's here.

V day will be spent at the Hartstone Inn in Camden, ME (been doing V-day there for 8 years now!) with their FABULOUS "Gourmet Getaway" package. Fantastic food, great wine. And next door is Mikado, with the best sushi I have ever experienced. GG, definitely worth a trip up north! www.hartstoneinn.com
