A deli is definitly moving into cafe aiello's space on Gorham Street. I don' t have the dets. yet, but didn't want to hold off on this nifty news a moment longer. Love to see such progress in a city like Lowell during a recession. My favorite thing to order at a deli is matzo ball soup. I still remember a place in Hartford called Top Notch that used to serve up medicinal bowls of the stuff. Come to think of it I haven't had a subtantial bowl since. And that was in college. Their smoked salmon plate was a staircase up on the school caf. What's you're favorite meal at a deli? Might as well start dreaming about what we can order when it opens and put in our wish list. Bagels would be good too. We'll get Lowell to resemble Manhattan even if it kills us.
There will also be a deli opening soon in the Marston Buidling a few blocks north. We can become effete Upper East Siders and stop into one for sandwiches and the other for pickles. Black and white cookies anyone?
Southeast Asian is not closing. The apartment upstairs is for rent if anyone's interested.
I hope they keep some seating and the free wifi, I'm really missing Aiello for that.
Grilled ham and cheese please.
I'm glad to see something filling the space vacated by Aiello. I have to wonder if Lowell can support two delis though. We seem to be losing more business than we're getting, need to diversify!
They may as well just dump their money in the canal. Aiello didn't work because of the parking - the deli will have the same problem - plus its too far for most downtown people to walk on their 30-60 minute lunch break. Won't last a year.
