Good bye Angelinas hello Angelas

Just in time to lift us out of the November doldrums, a new pizza place is born. And not just any za factory, this is fired by coal. OK greeniacs let's give em a chance.
Angelas Coal Fired Pizza opened yesterday on Middlesex Street in Tyngsboro at the site of Shananhan’s Jazzwine Bar and Matthew’s Strip Club. I’m sure there’s a joke in here somewhere. Submit yours below.
If you like your pizza well-done, the clean-burning 900 degree ovens toast pies to a crisp beauty. Crust is not thick, not thin-thin. "The coal fired gives it a different taste," said the woman who answered the phone. What is different? If it's like Pizza Regina in the North End, where the crust has tinges of delicious ashen black, we are in for a good time.
Six signature pies like pollo alfredo — chix, broc, alfredo cheese and the ultimo — sausage, pepperoni and meatballs should settle any pizza lover's hash.
Go for the pizza, but return for wings. Basted with lemon juice, rosemary and garlic! That warrants an exclamation point. Open for lunch and dinner 11:30-10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on weekends. Ten beers on draft and a solid wine list. angelascfp.org

Sounds awesome. Good thing China is opening a coal plant per week.

I went here Friday night. Limited menu with only 2 appetizers and 6 or so "gourmet" pizza's ringing in at $18 per pie. Of course you can create your own if you'd like for only $2.50 a topping on a large pizza.
Took a seat at the bar while waiting for a table. Nice selection of beer on taps and decent wine list. We were quoted 45 minutes but were sat in 25. No complaints there.
We were seated right near the entrance to the restaurant so naturally it was a bit cold. Our waitress arrived and sold us on the chicken wings. They are very nicely presented and they were very very good. The meat fell right off the bone. Only complaint would be that the marinade is a bit too strong.

Went on Sat. night. Place was packed. We met some friends at the bar and waited around 35-40 minutes to be seated. We ordered the chix app but our pizza came out first so we canceled the order. The pizza was excellent. Very generous with toppings and cooked well done. Our server was a little frazzled but that's to be expected in the first week. Game over for nearby chains just squeaking by.

Oops, forgot the rest of my review.

So we ordered a pizza, 1/2 meatball and ricotta, 1/2 proscuito, garlic, and onion. The pizza arrived without the onions. Oh well, figured waitress forgot to put it in the order. Found out when the bill came that she did include it, the kitchen must have missed it. The pizza was very good, I like the well done crunch. I was very please with the food. Only later did I become not so pleased with the food.

Now onto the negatives.
1. Service was subpar. Wrong beers brought to the table. When informed of the wrong beer, attitude followed. Also, the girlfriend requested ice water twice. Ice water never made it to the table.
2. I was charged $22 for a 2 topping pizza. Not sure how they came to that.
3. Girlfriend and I were sick the next day, and I mean all day. Nothing I can attribute it to but the wings. I can't imagine being this sick from pizza, unless it was the meatballs. Again, this could happen anywhere but it was all part of the Angela's experience, so I included it.

Overall, I definitely enjoyed the food. I'd go back, but maybe not so soon. When food makes me that ill I tend to stay away for a while.

Little Jerry - sounds more like a virus than food poisoning. Could be either, of course, but it usually hits pretty quick, in a matter of hours.

We were there the same night. Wings were awesome, pizza wasn't cooked long enough to get that nice char. However we were so full from the wings, the pizza made great leftovers when we threw it in the oven.

We went to Angela's last night. There is an extensive drink menu, including their own Sangria, which was quite good. Our pizza was delicious. I hope this place does well, but I do think they are going to need to offer more choices for appetizers & main dishes (really just pizza), plus some desserts, if they want to keep people coming back.
