I like this day. Not just because we are about to get change we need, but because we are getting coffee we need and for free. If ya don't know by now, today (all day) the good people at Starbucks are offering free tall drips to any drip who votes. Isn't that special? Call it democracy in action, an early X-Mas gift or a brilliant marketing ploy, but this is why we heart Starbucks. That and because the pike place blend is so smooth and rich and filled w/ just the right amount of caffeine. I don't usually pimp other blogs, but starbucksgossip.typepad.com is too good to pass up.Here's a humorous post from a pissed off barista in Manhattan: "Let's say this one more time, for all of the nitwits in some Starbucks' locations who haven't gotten the word, "ANY ONE ASKING FOR A FREE CUP OF COFFEE TODAY, ELECTION DAY, IS ENTITLED TO A TALL COFFEE AT ANY STARBUCKS LOCATION." Period. Wake up and smell the coffee Upper West Side of Manhattan. The manager of these locations should be nailed to the wall by his thumbs."
Too much free coffee could be a bad thing. Anyone know if Christmas blend is on tap yet?

the sign at a local starbucks said "23 days til Christmas Blend" .... they're using the holiday cups so the coffee can't be far behind...

Yes, I hope you all voted. I voted for my presidential pick (in a state where I really could make a difference) and am glad to say that NH is once again in the blue. Looks like I may not have to make good on that promise to move to Canada.
After voting, I went to one of my favorite Nashua sandwich shops to vote with my wallet. The Big Apple Deli is of the trifecta of great sandwich shops dowtown, which also includes Nashua Garden and Seedling Cafe. It pays to patronize the places that you hope will survive these troubled times, so chose wisely. Every vote counts.
As for other voter freebies, if you're a music fan, you can also download a free Wilco song by taking the voter pledge (at least before election day). See http://www.wilcoworld.net/vote/
