Go Cambodia

photo_contact.jpg It was getting late. I needed something to gnaw on. Still trying to save on gas, we walked to Tepthida Khmer on Chelms. St. What a find. This place has been open for more than a year and it has truly great Cambodian food. You could not find a better, more authentic experience in all of Phnom Penh, or Long Beach. We started w/ drunken noodles w/ beef/ shrimp and chix. The flat, fat noodles were on the spicy side and perfectly cooked. Next came a fried whole fish w/ pineapple, tomatoes stewed in a perfect sauce — not too hot, sweet or salty — it was just right. This white fish was so fresh; I suspect it was swimming when we walked through the door. I noticed this shrimp medley (in pineapple) being served to a long table of Cambodians, not once, but twice. Big ups for presentation. They serve a wide range of wines by the glass. We went w/ a french chard and a sav blanc from Africa and they quenched us nicely. Didn't hurt us in the pocket book either. Oh and the ambiance is v. pleasing. Cool cement floors, serene interior and great staff. Bright, smart, clean, nice, happy, what else can I say??? Check it out soon, and tell them GG sent ya. www.tepthida.com.

I'm so glad you reviewed this restaurant. I have drive by it hundreds of times and always wondered how it was. Now I know! It's on the list for this weekend.

It's great to hear some good news.

We agree..Tepthida Khmer does a great job!! We have been visiting since they opened. Delicious, fresh, sassy, and excellent prices.
The drunken noodle dish rocks. Splath

If you liked that place, you might want to venture over to Branch Street and try
the PEEPHUPTMEI Restaurant...
The food is wonderful. A mix of Cambodian, Vietnamese and Chinese delights.
The service is great and the price is right

Or check out red rose, for lunch or an early dinner because the close at 7:00!

we've been to Tepthida a few times, the food is really good. For those familiar with the Elephant Walk, I recently ordered the same dish I got at Tepthida a while ago. I'd say they were comparable, though Elephant Walk's was better.

Has the service improved any? That was the one problem we found. Perfectly friendly, but our dishes came out too far apart.

I didn't realize that peephuptmei is the one just down the street from me. we've been only once but it was very good, we'll definitely be back.

Good to know!

By the way, On The Road Coffee just opened on RT. 38 in Lowell. They serve Rao's Coffee (which is AMAZING) and all natural smoothies!

Come in and Check it out! I work there :)

Tepthida is a great place to eat. My parents and I have eaten there many times for our family dinners and have always enjoyed it.

My girlfriend, who has never eaten Cambodian food before, loves it too!

Fav dishes:
Chicken and lemongrass
Papaya Salad
chicken and ginger

If you are going to Peephuptmei, try the papaya salad and the whole tilapia with ginger sauce!
Both are out of this world. I brought four of my friends from Boston (one a Thai restaurant owner) there this weekend, and they could not get over the quality, quanity and the price of the food...They'll be back! Of course so will I!!

I' ve eaten at Tepthida Khmer numermous of times and i love the atomphere. Each dishes that my friend and I had order has a very authentic taste to it. The place is very nice and clean compare to other resturant that I've went. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. This is my favorite place to dine so far.

I can't get enough of Tepthida Khmer. I can't help but think that if this place was downtown, people would be spilling into the street. The Num Pang Chean (fried baguette topped with shrimp and pork paste) and Drunken Noodles are unbelievably good. I've never been disappointed with anything at this place!
