The water buffalo is cutting in on your dairy intake. A coworker hit me with some maple flavored Bufala di Vermont today and I must say I have new respect for this sad-looking horned mammal. But don't feel sorry for this guy, he's making good scratch. Seems the h20 buffy is churning out some delicious yogurt, cheese and meats in a farm up North. On this humane creamery in South Woodstock, VT the creatures are treated w/ such kindness they rest their heavy heads at night on waterbeds. (how they don't pop em is beyond me)
You may turn your noise up at yogurt from a buffalo, but the texture and flavor was there. It wasn't as creamy as some yogurt I’ve enjoyed (stonyfield cream on top), but it has a lower fat content and I'm all for innovative food forays. They also make fresh mozzarella and ravello and Bufalami – Water Buffalo Salami. Yum!
Keep in mind, water buffalo, or bufala, are a completely different species than North American buffalo, which are actually bison.WBs are an excellent source of dairy, as well as meat. You don't have to high-tail it to the Green Mountain State to try this treat. They carry it at Idylwilde Farms in Acton. No Bull!

GG.
Happened to be in Acton the other day picking up mums at Idlywilde and sampled the bufala yogurt from a nice miss down from Vermont. After the initial "no way" when I saw the display, I was impressed with the taste, too. The blueberry was good. A little more expensive than other yogurts, but worth it if you're looking for a lower fat treat.
Try it, you'll like it.

Hey All-
Anybody know what happened to Angelinas? I was completely bummed out when I went to get a sub there last night and it was closed for good? They had the best pizza downtown Lowell has seen in years, they had great huge subs/sandwiches w/ fresh ingredients, great bread etc. I am bummed. I went down to Sammy's and had a nice Italian sub from there--but I am definitely bummed that Angelina's is gone. I hope locals continue to support Mr Jalapeno as the food is excellent (needs margaritas) and cant wait for Village Smokehouse.
This is bad news. Not just because Angelinas had good pizza but because it could foreshadow other closings. Lowell finally has many options for good food and drink. But Lowellians alone cannot support these establishments and expect them to stay in business. I think the city does a good job of bringing people in but I don't see a unified effort from the restaurants to get out-of-towners to come to Lowell. Wake up! Or die a slow death.
That picture is a cape buffalo not a water buffalo.
