An astute foodie sez the Village Smoke House won't open till Oct. Boooo! We need BBQ. Give us BBQ. Hold on, good things are worth the wait. Right? The Middle Street rib shack looks great. New bar, shinny booths. They de-Evoed the place beyond recognition. So what's a few weeks? This place will revitalize the street that was once dubbed a miracle. In other cue news, a Brazilian BBQ is set to open on Andover Street in the space vacated by Rios. It's called Tobacas and has a logo w/ an impressive looking bull! Looks like construction has just begun, but who knows Tobacas could open before VSH. So sauce heads, what's the difference between Texas BBQ and Brazilian?

I peeked in today, figured it looked like Oct. Looking good, but what's up w/ the double "Village Smoke House" lettering. It only needs one set. It will be worth the wait, esp if they have some good October beers. However, it will never beat Evo's for beer selection and ambiance. That saloon had charm like no other. Hey so what's the deal with "Gemstones"? GG no review of Ole? And what's up with the rickety convenience store next to Centro. Do we need that?

What a bummer...I thought they were opening tonight. Guess my plans have changed for the evening. Thanks for the update!

That rickety convenient store is not needed. It looks to me like a bunch of random treats and mostly empty. I stopped in for an ice cream fix, but no dice. Hey, what's up with the store hours at Monkey's? Do they just close when they feel like it? no set hours?

The one thing I can say about that convenience store is that they at least ask what they could add to help out the neighborhood. Personally, I would be happy if CVS were open later, but they are a huge national chain who forgets their roots on Merrimack Street in DTL. I've even heard rumors (that I would love to hear confirmed or denied) that when the mega-CVS opens at the intersection of VFW and Bridge, that the DTL one will close. I'm not walking that distance then across the most dangerous intersection in MA for odds and ends, I don't know about you.

And yeah, Monkeys posts hours but they don't seem to actually follow them :-)
If you haven't been in in a while, they have a few candies and fudges now as well.
