Make a spalsh

Fishbones in Chelmsford has opened its bar and we are ready for a cocktail. The upscale seafood shanty/market now offers inventive libations, wine, beer and aquatic ambiance. It's about time Central Square starts to rock. Has anyone dropped anchor here? We need a read. Also C’est on Merrimack St. in DTL now has wine. Fun wine I might add. It's about time this shop has a tasting. Speaking of tastings the Drink Shoppe/Hometown Butchery in Hudson, N.H. has a rowdy meat and beer tasting every Friday from 4 to 6. Cut out of work early and join the affable group of regs. who drink Gritty McDuff’s and consume copious amounts of spicy meats and peppery chix hot off the barbe. They tell me tonight they're uncorking wine. But the rest of the year it's micro brews all the way.The Drink Shoppe, 214 Central St., www.thedrinkshoppe.net. What are you consuming this weekend?

I'm going to the Hampton Seafood Festival tonight, as I did last year. It's worth a visit (and free admission on Fri night), but be sure to take the (also free) shuttle bus from town. If you go, scope out the vendors online and plan your attack: http://www.hamptonbeachseafoodfestival.com/foodcourt.cfm
Last year, I enjoyed fish tacos, fried clams and lobster mac&cheese. Clams, chowdah and some kind of lobstah will be in contention tonight.

Heading to the White Mountains for the weekend. May try the Common Man in Plymouth on the way up. Any other suggestions in the Waterville-Loon area?

I think I'm finally going to try Mr.Jalapeno tonight and then head on down to Boarding House Park to catch Taj Mahal.

Going to Gaslight for Big Jay's birthday party. Then we'll head to his place to see The Miami Hurricanes blow out the Florida Gators!! Nick said he's going to have Anna's for lunch in order to give Jay an upper-decker for his birthday. Poor guy won't see it coming.

Fishbones is an extraordinary seafood restaurant--much better than Legal Seafoods in Burlington. We have never had a bad meal at Fishbones (lunch or dinner). Excellent, affordable wine list. You can't find tastier, fresher swordfish than what they sell in their fish market; expensive but worth it. Also sea bass and othe fish not found elsewhere in the Lowell area.

Last night was canal-side dining at Blue Taleh (the Oak Vineyards Chardonnay and Cabernet there are both excellent, and CHEAP, too). This morning was brunch at Robinson's. Tonight is sausage, peppers and onions from the crockpot (al fresco dining Sat. night is not looking so good). Not sure yet what Sunday has in store...

Tried Fishbones for the first time last week based on GG's and Jim's recommendation-good call! Great food, nice bar. We'll definitely make this a regular stop. With this, Infusions Bistro and Feng Shui, no need to leave Chelmsford for a great meal!
