The sangria search

sangria.jpgWalking through the JAM Area last night, I ran into a friendly foodie foursome who asked: Hey Gourmet Gal where can you get a good sangria around here? I was stumped, ill prepared for the question, having just had a relaxing pasta dinner and a glass or two of white wine. But these FOGGs (friends of gourmet gal) deserve an answer. GG likes a challenge, especially one involving food & drink. So the gauntlet has been thrown. As of this posting I will make finding kickass sangria my mission for the mo. But where to start? I suspect Cobblestones pours a fine fruity wine punch and I know sangria is one of the pretty cocktails on the menu at uber-hip Moonstones in Chelms., but these are too obvious and unfounded. There must be delicious sangrias lurking right under our nose where we'd least expect it. Does Cavalieros pour one? The soon-to-open Ole! on Merrimack Street will feature pitchers of the stuff. Can't wait for that. The Spanish tapas joint should be open by the end of the mo. More on that as news comes in. Does Friend's do sangria? Can anyone help here? Recipes are welcome too. Happy Fourth!

Umm, I'm not picky but I enjoy sangria from Sangria's.

The sangria at Moonstones is one of the best I've had.

Paradiso has good white and red. Also, the red sangria at Blue Taleh is interesting...it's made with a "secret spice" that, I believe, is cinnamon.

I've had some really delicious Red Sangria at Blue Taleh at all places. It has a touch of cinnamon that makes it interesting :)

Ahhhh, Sangria!!! One of my favorite summertime drinks. I'll tell you where you can get the best Sangria in Lowell...my house. ;) Ok, so that's not very fair is it.
Seriously, I haven't really had great Sangria in Lowell, sorry to say. The last Sangria I had was at Dali's in Somerville and it was fabulous.
Mambo's sangria is good, and I've had the sangria at Sangria's and will have to say it was lacking. I'll have to try the Moonstones Sangria and let you know.
I'm going to bet that the new tapas place is going to have a lock on the Sangria business.

Try the Sangria at Centro made by Mario.
Delicious.
