Just when you thought the space was snake-bitten, doomed to be filled with lame Chinese/Japanese buffet restaurant after lame Chinese/Japanese buffet rest. from here to eternity, along comes 7 Nana Japanese Steakhouse to save the day. On Fri. (July 4) the Hibachi grill and sushi bar opens in Treble Cove Plaza. I, like many of you perhaps, avoided this space for years after a spine-tinglingly horrid experience when it was all buffet all the time. Mandarin kitchen it was called, I think. Something about the layer cake sharing space w/ egg foo yong and jello molds turned me off. Hopefully a real exorcism took place, the room needed it. I'm feeling good vibes and will check it out next time I find myself lost in the B-ric. Anyone heard anything about lucky no. 7? Are you sick of the whole fusion thing, or are we still down w. it?
Update: Co-worker went here yest. and reports the ambiance and tableside cooking show is flirty and fun. Seven just maybe our lucky numb.

Hello, My wife and I went early on a Friday (4:00) and were alone in the place. We asked for the Hibachi room and were seated at the cooking table. We were graciously served. Then the entertainment began with food, spatulas and water flying all around. Couldn't catch the flying food at all, fun banter and a well lit cooking surface (booze sort of fires up the room). I'm sure that the chef adjusts his banter to suit the guest. We went back on Saturday late afternoon for sushi. Yes this was impressive! We could have eaten in the Tatami matted room but chose a little more sane dinner in the "American" style booth. The service was very pleasant and attentive, the owner came by a few times to discuss his food and philosophy. There is also a meeting room in the back for larger parties. Good job!
