Nice Stack

smoke%20house.JPGSigns of progress at the Village Smoke House.
Crews have been working around the clock at the soon-to-open Texas BBQ joint on Middle Street in Lowell. I snapped this pic today of the chimney being built off the alley in the back. This can only mean one thing: some serious meat will be grilled here soon. And veggies and tofu pups (hopefully) for the my vegan friends out there. This is a big investment. Huge. A chimney to blow the smoke from the flames that will fire up baby backs and chicken must cost a pretty penny. Nice to see this sprawling, dormant building spring back to life. Looks like Lowell’s new industry is restaurants. Forget the industrial revolution. What we're witnessing here folks is the gustatorial rev. A much more satisfying era. So when is VSH opening? Owner will not return GG’s calls. Sad, but true. I can only deduct that we will be licking our lips by July 24 when the Lowell Folk Festival comes to town. Who’s ready?

The Smokehouse is smoking! I work right next door and they are moving in

I hope they're open by xmas. That way Santa will be able to have ribs(tofu?) when he goes down the chimney.

I can't wait to have local BBQ!!!

Any word on any establishments going into the new Garage in the JAM neighborhood?

Folk Fest of 09 is my guess.
