Someone mentioned homemade lemonade in the last post, yes please. Sadly we are not in the Ocean State right now where Dell's is about the best citrus connection a thirsty surfer can make in NE. Has anyone had Dell's? Its a perfect/slushy cool down. You see the little lemon icons all over Rhode Island, worth a trip this wkend dontcha think? Flatbread Pizza has a good lemonade Im told. And Monkey's on Merrimack St. has one too. Has anyone been to the new ice cream shop? Kudos for timing Franky, Matt and Andy. What could be better for opening week than a 97 degree (do I hear 100?) scorch fest. I had a great combo there last week, Caribbean coconut ice cream w/ berries. They made it as a mistake and gave it to me. I tell you it was great! That's my order from now on, but maybe w/ yogurt.

Dell's made some inraods into the Cape in the 80's, then receaded, but I think they may be back. The thing is those lemony slushy concoctions cool you down buy leave my throat more gummed up than before I ate it. I prefer Richie's Slush. Yes, it's not real fruit in there, but it's refreshing without the sticky gummy sensation in your throat. It's like how Captain Crunch never publicly addresses how the cereal cuts up the roof of your mouth.
Prices at Monkeys are way too high - do they think they are on Newbury St in Beantown? Too much for too little.
Split a 10 monkeys with my wife and we were loving it.
All I can say is, keep your eye on that drill press hiding behind the counter. When they get that thing up and running, anyone who's into frozen yogurt and/or mix-ins is going to be in heaven.
Cafe Kiraz in Inman Square and Angora Cafe at BU both have one, and the concoctions they make are completely addictive.
Madman,
What's a 10 monkey? sounds sinfully insane. I keep thinking of that Bruce Willis movie 12 Monkeys. Scary.
They turned the drill press on last week and whoa, you are right the consistency and fruit blend was otherwordly. I thought they had it running by now.
I think it's called Ten Monkeys Jumping on the Bed - it's a sampler of 10 different ice creams (one scoop each) with hot fudge, caramel, and whip cream thrown it in case the vomit factor isn't already high enough. $10 gets you da whole thing.
I shared mine, but believe it or not, the guy in front of me that afternoon got 2 orders of 10 monkeys and devoured them himself. (I am serious) I never saw the Golden Scoop trophy, but am assuming one must have been around there somewhere in order for him to eat that much.
I wish you hadn't told me the drill press is officially running. Now I will be forced to go again tonight. My favorite combos from Kiraz were peanut butter cheesecake (chocolate fro yo base with peanut butter slathered on the drill bit and a Sara Lee cheesecake bite dropped in the yogurt divet) and S'mores (chocolate fro yo base with honey graham, marshmallow fluff, and chocolate chips).
Not sure Monkeys will have this sort of variety with mix-ins, but if they do, people in line better get out of my way when i come in.
Damn I miss the "Bellybuster" at Chadwick's of Waltham. Twenty scoops and the thing was free if you finished it by yourself! Any food "challenges" like that still around the area? With this sagging economy, that might be a way to make ends meet! (Just not the ends of your belt).
