Lowell's new ciao!

We hear a new Italian restaurant will open soon at the Textile Museum. The Gazebo Cafe moved out after 10 years in March leaving the bldg. a husk of its vibrant, gourmet self. 491 Dutton (where my office is) has lost its great smells. I loved walking in in the morn. to wafts of bacon on the grill, oatmeal cookies being baked, and soups, all kinds of soups, on the boil. All spring, the area behind the loom has morphed into a black hole. It's like a scene on a stage that's been darkened. Hope this rumor can be verified by day’s end. I have calls into G’vannis, the North End restaurant being bandied. It’s supposed to be moving into Billerica. But Im not feelin' it. This upscale steakery may have jumped ship for the restaurant capital of the Merrimack Valley: L-ville. Think of it, glasses of Chianti and baked manicotti delivered to my desk. Everybody mangia!

GG,
Just a warning, if this is the same G'vannis that was on Gorham St. in Lowell, across from the cemetary,
watch out.
That place was filthy and probably on the Board of Health's list of dirty eateries to watch - messy tables, napkins on the floor, torn blinds, very unappetizing.
Hope something arrives to fill the Gazebo space, but not G'vannis, if that's the one.
