History made, now where's the coffee?

coffee_cup.jpg After doing green shots at 12 a.m. at Paradiso last night, I doubt Im the only one who needs a pick-me-up today. Coffee (and KG) is our savior. I schlepped in my own brew, but need a refill by now. Besides the regular bean houses, are there new cafes w/ great caffeine beverages out there? We love Cafe Aiello, clearly the best coffee in DTL. But w/ its far-flung locale (not too far, but far enough) it's not always possible for us to hit it. Their coffee comes from Zoka in Seattle and if you're headed to Grunge City you must visit a Zoka Cafe. We're talking small batches of bean goodness. And the cafes are funked up to perfection. Especially the one by UDub. Just learned a Dunkin’ Donuts will be opening a few steps from my office on Dutton Street in Lowell, where the carwash was. This news is almost as good as no. 17 being hoisted. I’ve been toiling in no-coffee-land ever since the Gazebo closed its sides in March. The artists of Western Ave., should be happy. This part of the Acre has long been poorly underserved by joe. I noticed Java Mama's in Westford is for rent. Anyone know about this? What’s you’re favorite indie cafe?

Before Aiello opened, my favorite cup of coffee in Lowell was at Life Alive. I still rank it a close second.

I tinge off topic but the BBQ Beachfest on City Hall Plaza was outstanding yesterday. Fellow chili heads, be sure to try Butch's BBQ Ribs with Super Pyro Sauce. It blew my hat off!

Life Alive has wonderful coffee!!

If I need a large cup of iced coffee, I usually go to Olive's. Tasty and lasts forever. However it's hard to resist The Coffee Mill's vanilla iced coffee. Plus they always give my dog a treat when she goes in there. Now I can't even walk past there without my dog pulling me to the door, even when they're closed!

Top Donut isn't indie, it's a very small chain, but the best iced coffee . . . . . . EVER

Try the cafe at Jones Farm in Chelmsford on rt 27 just off the center. Great coffee. Best iced decalf coffee I have ever had. Also has some pasteries and soon if not already will have locally grown vegetables. Very relaxing, worth the trip.

I may be a tad bias because I have worked there previously, but any caffeinated beverage from Eggroll Cafe on University Ave. is amazing. They use Illy coffee beans and take great care in making sure all their employees know how to make whatever drink it is you prefer, be it american style espresso or a proper macchiato.

A plus, the food is great as well!
