Friday flyover

I went to Bonfire last night in Boston for tacos, pretty good. Great bar scene. I had the halibut, Gourmet Guy the steak skirt and my friend the Bar Babe went w/ lobster. Such tender treats served in soft corn tacos with a healthy smear of guac and a side salad blew all tapas notions away. Finally a pleasing Todd English experience. I haven't given up on you Todd! What are your food plans this wkend?

We had a busy week of food news. Last night's show went well, Click here to watch There was some confusion over Restaurant Week. Is it happening? Isn't it? It's still a go, July 28- Aug. 9, but some local restaurants have pulled out. The Greater Merrimack Valley Convention and Visitor's Bureau did too. Seems they didn't have time to pull it off successfully. But we got a call from Frans, who runs Dayla’s in Bedford who is still committed to the prixe-fixed fete. Anyone dined at this Mediterranean bistro?
The guy's been in the rest. business for enough years to make him a gourmand guru. Im willing to make the trip. L’Andana in Burlington is on board too. This grande Tuscan steakhouse is a good place to try during discount week. I love the blue chip feel of this hulking restaurant. It's like a brand-new 747, powerful and ready to impress. Exec. Chef Robert Jean is from Lowell and we'd like to start a campaign to bring him here. Sure a lot is happening culinary in Millville, but we could always use one more great restaurant, right?
