Someone mentioned the incredible cocktail menu at Moonstones yesterday and I happen to be holding the six-pager right now. Looks like Moonstones is bringing sipping back. Beginning w/ single malts, brandy and cognac, dessert drinks made w/ Starbucks Coffee (stop the presses) Godiva and Baileys — hot in winer, cool in summer — harkens back to the days when drinking was an art, not a game. Too bad this place is right off 495. Im sticking to a one and a half drink min. Carafes of sangrias, light wines, big wines, bad wines and the power list (that's just the reds) should slake any vino snob around. Im getting thirsty. You want beer? Hoegarden from Belgium, Sapporo, James Boag from Tasmania and (yeah!) Brooklyn
Larger keeps it real. Are the Cliff Notes version of this libation bible out there? Points for fresh takes w/ ginger caipirnha and acai margarita. And who won't be tempted by the kumquat royale? This lounge-forward hotspot on 110 in Chelms. is set to open May 20. See ya on the moon!. www.moonstones110.com.

Ouch Babe!
I woke up this morning after our first "practice run" at moonstones last night, scanned the paper for anything actually interesting about (sweetheart) Jennifer Garner and happily saw your most recent blog about moonstones. It was again very nice, and thank you very much again, but your "stop the presses" sarcasm about our using starbucks liquer in a coffee drink (listed on the 6th page of that 6 page menu) hurt my feelings just a litte bit!!
(are you baiting me GG? cuz I'm a sucker!)
Yes, its true, we think cliche-ol' Starbucks liquer makes a tasty drink. But we certainly did not give it billing, nor did we the house vodka nor the bass ale) but we can't wait for your readers to experience what we feel is actually a fairly creative menu, some of which you may have missed.
Like 20 wines by the glass representing 18 countries. (kudos for noticing the James Boag Lager Beer from Tasmania!)
Or the "wheel keep on turnin'" martini made with organic vodka and organic olives (wheel=earth=global...) (formerly named "The Tree Hugger" for a week...) Which, by the way is listed in our "HOME GROWN" section of the menu whereby all ingredients are domestic, along with the moonhattan and the bluebeRry pancakes (made with maple vodka and fresh blueberries!!)
The other sections you may have noted include WESTERN CIVILIBATION" (i.e. the Eiffel Sour)
BAR EAST (i.e. Mai Tai Mangover) and
LATIN BEBES (spanish for drinks)
(i.e. Stones Sangria and The Holy Mole made with Tequila, fresh jalapeno and chocolate)
And just to clarify---the wine categories are not "big wines" and "bad wines"...it's actually
"Big and Bad" together (vs "Light and Easy"), and noted "whereas bad is good" for those less hip than your self!!!
Yes, we can't wait to see you all at the moon, real soon. And we hope you like the food too!!
(We sure do)

ps didn't you want to come by with your camera?

Scott,
I love Starbucks and was not being sarcastic in the least!
Can't wait to try the food and get my sneak peek of the moon soon.

Scott,
Drinks translated to spanish is actually BEBIDAS, not BEBES. Bebes are babies.
Are you serving Latin babies? ;)

GG...I am SOOOO sorry. That's funny. I thought you were being fresh.
And Ruby...check again! Although we certainly hope to serve some Spanish "Babes"-- babies is bebes with a tilda; "bebes" technically translates to "you drink", conjugated from "beber" or to drink. Admittedly, we tool liberty.
y, esperamos que bebes aqui!
Nos veemos en la luna!
