The dogs are out

Just had a turkey and a steamed beef dog at Bawd Dawgs and I'm still licking my lips.

Beyond the beef buns, it's great to have such a class joint on Merrimack Street. It was day one, they were excited and slammed. I like the way they lay on the condiments, at an angle. Seems you can load up w/ toppings and the price doesn't fluctuate. But it was probably opening day freebies. Whose taken a bite out of the dawg?

Had a Basset Hound (Chicago Style Dog) earlier today. The dog itself was very good, nice spicy mustard, and ample toppings. Only complaint was the pepper, Chicago dogs usually have a few small pickled peppers, this one had one large raw pepper that was unusually hard.

I am going back tonight to try a few more, it seems like they are going to do quite well, especially when the draft beer starts flowing...

Are the buns real bread like at Spike's or are they typical flimsy hot dog buns? My pic is on the wall at the Alston Spike's 6 times!

went there opening day!!!..had to wait a little bit but opening day so what
do you expect..dogs were great and cant wait for the beer!!i had a hard
time figuring out which one to eat but went with the bassett hound...props
to bad dawgs for having so many options and staying open late.....good
job!!!..lowell needs it!!

Since you brought up the buns, they are a bit flimsy. Gourmet Guy commented on them, enriched indeed. It would be nice to have roll options.

Went today. Place was mobbed. After five minutes of waiting, was told it would be a few minutes before anyone could get to me and that the dogs wouldn't be ready for twenty minutes. They were all out. Apologized to me when I couldn't wait and asked me to come back another day.

I will be back, as the experience can be chalked up to opening week kinks. Still, when you have ONE item on the menu and that item is hot dogs, you really shouldn't run out of that item at 1pm.

Same happened to me yesterday. They told me they'd be open Friday. Story ends well though, went into The Old Court on the way home and has a FANTASTIC burger. Kind of glad, it must have been meant to be!

I went one day at 11:45 - they weren't ready yet - too bad my lunch time is from 11:30-12

Went back that night - they were out of hot dogs - how can you run out of your signature item the second day!?!

Third time they were locked up again at 11:30 -

Forget it - I won't give them a 4th time to disappoint me

I'm thinking even if they have custom-made frankfurters from a meat vendor (which is speculation) they probably should have gone ahead and gotten some substitute dogs and offered an explanation of some sort.

I'll give them another chance, but yeah, 4 times is insane.

I went last night with a friend and we left happy. The dogs are great, the atmosphere is fun and we left talking about when we'd be going back next.

I wont lie...im the brother of the two owners and the kitchen manager at Barnacle Billys etc.. in Perkins Cove Ogunquit, ME...Ive worked and restaurants all my life and spent the weekend down at their establishment to offer advice and help SLANG the dawgs. They have a great thing going down there and will continue to do well. Running out of dogs is not acceptable when it is the only thing you offer, but in their defense they could in no way predict they would be as busy as they were. Bad Dawgs will never run out of dawgs again and they will continue to improve and take the nation by storm. SO MR. Peter Rollins...we will step to your challenge and continue to make sure we please you. To the lady that wont try them again...please do. If I could Id like to get an adress so I can relay the issues you had to the owners and send you a gift card or something we could reimburse you for your bad experiences.
