While we patiently await Mr. Jalapeno to pop, Casa Blanca opens with little fanfare today in Billerica. From fish tacos, to spinach enchiladas to burgers (?), this small chain w/ locations in N. Andover and Bedford, N.H. aims to meet all ages and taste buds. Dubbed Mexican family, the menu, look and feel of this new spot reads like a Chi Chi's of yore. Anyone remember that '80s chainery that invented fried ice cream? Ummm. The jury is still out about CB, but specials like pollo en mole, chix w/ that dark, rich, sweet chocolate sauce is one of our favs. And unlike Mr. J, the white house located on Chelms. Road. in the new mall across from Exxon, opens with a bar and a full line of margaritas. The Rosarita, hand-shaken w/ triple sec and fresh lime, clocks in at $6.99. We hear that Jalapeno eventually wants to expand into the spce next store and add a bar. At the rate it's taking Mr. J. to open, we are not expecting this to occur anytime soon. Ole!

Hmm, seems like you have jumped to a early food death conclusion on Casa Blanca . Since it has just newly opened. As with most food places in order to get a good rating of the food, people need to go more than once to formulate a master opinion but if the service and or food is bad then why go back? Indeed it took a long time for this palce to finally open up but hey we are in a not so good economy. I will have to investigate Casa Blanca myself and get back to ya!

I've been to the CB in N. Andover for lunch a few times, and it is delish. Had GG's favorite mole the first time - yummy. That one is a free-standing building with cathedral ceilings in the dining area and a couple of small and cozy bars. Nice to hear there's a new one opening closer to home, especially since Mr. J's seems to be in a perpetual holding pattern.
