We hear a Lowell Restaurant Week is being bandied. Like Boston's successful week of prefix dining, Lowell’s would feature discounts at the smashing establishments we have here for one blissful week of eating out. Boston's has become so successful most places sell out quickly and it turned biannual. The Left Bank in Tyngs. has long been a participant, but few people make the trek out to the boro when they can dish at Davios. By having a LRW, all the great spots outside Lowell —Gibbet Hill in Groton, Burtons in North Andover, Infusions Bistro in Chelms.— can glom on. With La Boniche, Ricardos and Cobblestones downtown we have enough to keep his going. And w/ Kearney Sq. becoming swinging —Blue Taleh on its way, Centro on Market Street finding its footing, this could be bigger than the Folk Fest, or at least Winterfest. Even Lowla Bear could use a roasted pork loin a la plumb neuvo w/ a side of pinot. No?
To make this a reality, post your support here and let's see if the Gourmet Gal can jump-start this ready-made slam dunk. Summer's the right time says restaurateur Dick Rourke, whose brainstorm this is. OK Dick, but not August, mid-June baby, mid-June.

What a great idea! Fall would be a great time for restaurants to jump start business after the summer downtime.
Lowell Restaurant week sounds like a terrific idea. It would attract people from the surrounding area like ants to sugar. I say go for it Gourmet Gal
Yes, please! I would love an opportunity to try a number of new places in the area and I think it would attract people from the surrounding communities.

We have bantered about a restaurant week for a couple of years now, and certainly no one banters like Ricardo! (Thanks for mentioning us as worthy participants--and there are a number of others that I am sure would join) My opinion, however, is to not create our own week but to take advantage of the week that is already heavily publicized and widely known, and coincide with Boston's. Of course, count us in, and let me know how we can help make it happen.

The people have spoken ... Lowell Restaurant Week must happen. I say we shoot for next October. Hell, let's make it this very week! The foliage is apeeping and the fall harvest bounty has never tasted better. Gourmet Gal needs sponsors, are you listening Starbucks, DD, Sysco?
Great idea to have a Lowell Restaurant Week! It is as important to attract people outside the city as it is the people who live here. If we can get the people into the city once for dinner, they will come back. The end of September, beginning of October would be great. Let me know how I can help coordinate. We should start marketing it in the spring and summer!
I actually already assumed that Lowell participated in Restaurant Week. Didn't realize it was a Boston thing and was disappointed when I searched for something in this area and didn't find anything. I would love to have local restaurants be part of the larger event.
What a great idea! I agree, it *must* happen!
I'm delighted to see so much much excitement being generated about restaurant week. Dick Rourke and others have talked about doing a RW promotion for a few years. The CVB is happy to be part of this event and we hope to debut the inaugural RW event this August in conjunction with Boston's restaurant week. We will be doing this throughout the Greater Merrimack Valley and will be targeting about 25 restaurants to participate the first year. Strategy and Details are being worked out, committees are be developed ,potential sponsors are being talked to and excitement is being generated. Anyone interested in getting involved should just shoot me a quick email. dbelanger@merrimackvalley.org This will be good for our business community and for culinary tourism,.....
More details to follow as they unfold
