When your mother told you looks are not everything, she may just have been right.
A European "Vogue" cover model fell to her death from her Manhattan apartment building Saturday in an apparent suicide.
Ruslana Korshunova, 20, died around 2:30 p.m. in a fall from a building on Water Street, in Manhattan’s Financial District.
Originally from the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan, the almond-eyed, flowing-haired Korshunova appeared in advertisements and on runways for such designers as Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci and DKNY. British Vogue hailed her as “a face to be excited about” in 2005.
Her break came when modeling booker Debbie Jones noticed her while perusing an in-flight magazine article about Korushnova’s hometown of Almaty, according to the Vogue report.
“She looked like something out of a fairytale!” Jones told the magazine. “We had to find her and we searched high and low until we did!”

From what I hear...tickets for last night's showings of Sex and the City at Showcase in Lowell were harder to come by than a pair of Manolos at TJ Maxx.
Did anyone go see the four gals on the big screen? Any thoughts? Were the critics all correct in stating that the only thing good about this flick is its high fashion? Should we shell out the $12 or wait for the DVD?
I also heard that Moonstones in Chelmsford was party central all night. I guess the Carries, Charlottes, Samanthas and Mirandas of Greater Lowell took over the new lounge on Rt. 110.
Anyone sip pink cosmos on the Moon yesterday?
If you want Sex tonight is the night.
The Sex and the City movie premieres today and that means one thing...women will be out in the city! This weekend is prime hunting season as "the girls" will be traveling in packs.
Single guys on the prowl, get over to Showcase Cinemas in Lowell. Other places where the gals will be sipping pink cosmos tonight will be at Moonstones in Chelmsford.

We went to the beach and got some great grilling tips this week on Sun Cast.

It’s getting old, but Britney Spears has hit a car one more time. Oh baby, baby.
Paparazzi had cameras rolling when the pop star’s white Mercedes-Benz coupe rear-ended a red Ford Explorer Tuesday in Beverly Hills.
The video, posted on TMZ.com, shows Spears in the driver’s seat. Wearing a ponytail and aviator shades, she covers her mouth with her hand after realizing she hit the car in front of her.
No one was injured and police were not involved. Photos and video do not reveal any visible damage to either car.
The 26-year-old’s bodyguard, who was riding in the passenger seat, gave Spears’ information to the female driver of the SUV, People.com and TMZ reported.
Spears was involved in a separate fender-bender on April 12. No one was injured or cited in that accident.

Mimi is no longer emancipated.
According to several published reports, Mariah Carey, 38, married Nick Cannon, 27, on Wednesday.
The couple has remained quiet about their relationship. A couple of weeks ago, Mariah started sporting a huge rock on her ring finger that resembles the diamond Nick gave his last fiance Victoria Secret model Selita Ebanks.
Any bets on how long this will last? I give them four and a half months.

It's days like this that make me want to run away to California. And these two Hillers above have nothing to do with it. I am not even sure why I posted their pics other than it may get some guys attention.
I Googled "Cali" images and the pic of LC and Heidi appeared. I was going to blog about how this weather makes me long for palm trees, but Heidi's outfit is distracting me. Not sure where it would be appropiate to wear such a thing other than to a...well...um...whatever!
It's Friday so I'll forgive Heidi for her Holly-hood outfit choice. Why am I even blogging anymore? It is 75 and sunny...latah!!!
p.s. you're welcome for the eye candy

Ashlee Simpson and her rocker boyfriend Pete Wentz are engaged.
“We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best,” Simpson said in a statement posted Wednesday on People magazine’s Web site. “Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged.”
Simpson’s manager-father, Joe Simpson, told the magazine he’s “totally happy” and “so excited to have Pete as part of (our) family.”
The couple began dating in fall 2006, according to People.
Wentz, 28, is bassist for Fall Out Boy. Simpson, 23, a singer, songwriter and actress, is the younger sister of pop star Jessica Simpson. Ashlee Simpson’s new album, “Bittersweet World,” is set for release on April 22.
Let's hope the younger Simpson sibling's marriage lasts longer than her big sis.

Party on Wayne!
Mike Myers will host the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, which will air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., on June 1.
This will be Myers’ second time hosting the show. The celeb-filled event is MTV’s irreverent nod to the typical awards shows. Award categories include best kiss, best villain and best comedic performance.
MTV says nominees will be announced in May.
Myers stars in the upcoming film “The Love Guru.”
We think it should have been Jack Black again. Why fix something that is not broken? Who do you think should be hosting the awards?

In the end, "Beauty and the Geek" reality show participant James “Jimmy’’ Babcock, didn’t get the girl or the cash.
At the end of Tuesday’s night’s episode, Babcock, a 2004 Bedford High School graduate and self-proclaimed computer geek, and his Beauty partner Leticia were asked to “leave the mansion’’ after losing a science challenge and a sudden death quiz.
In an earlier interview with The Sun, Babcock’s mother, Judi, said her son’s goal in going on the reality show was to learn how to be less socially inept. The $250,000 prize money was secondary.
But as Babcock and Leticia parted ways, he got neither the money nor the kiss he so wanted. Leticia merely gave him a peck on the cheek.

MTV's "Hills" starlet, Audrina Patridge, will be at The Estate in Boston this Saturday night.
Don't know which vapid party girl Audrina is on the MTV docu-drama? Here's a hint — she's the brunette.
Doors open at One Bolyston Street at 9 p.m., Audrina is slated to arrive at 11 p.m. and a Sheiki Jeans fashion show is scheduled at midnight.
British singer’s husband dead

The husband of Grammy-nominated British soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae has been found dead.
Police say, saxophone player, Jason Rae, 31, was found in an apartment in the northern
English city of Leeds on Saturday. Officers are awaiting results of toxicology tests to determine the cause of death.
A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying him with drugs, but has been released on bail, officials said.
Jason Rae played the sax in the funk band, the Haggis Horns.
Bailey Rae’s self-titled debut album sold more than 1 million copies in the U.S. after its release in 2006.
The 29-year-old was nominated for song of the year at the Grammy Awards in both 2007 and 2008.
Sorry Miss Jackson, I am for real.

The Jackson family has hit some hard times according to the New York Post. The Big Apple tab is reporting that they are broke and some are still living with their parents.
The most famous of the Jacksons, Michael, is on the verge of losing Neverland ranch as well as the family’s Encino, Calif., home. He is currently hiding out in Las Vegas.
Marlon stocks shelves at a Vons supermarket in San Diego, and had to temporarily move into an extended-stay hotel with his wife.
Tito formed a band and plays at small gigs for $500 to $1,500.
Randy does odd jobs for income. He acted as Michael’s business manager during the 2005 molestation trial, but ran into problems with friends after he persuaded three people to take out lines of credits against their homes to help Michael pay his attorney fees. They were never reimbursed.
Jackie had a failed Internet clothing business that left him living at home with his parents.
Jermaine splits time between the parents home and his girlfriend’s home. He has more than $5 million in federal, state and other liens against him and a 1995 bankruptcy filing. He does not work and is still involved in a messy, protracted divorce.
The women of the Jackson family are a different story. Janet just released a new album and bought her mother a Vegas home in anticipation of losing the family’s mansion to foreclosure.
La Toya earns a living mostly in Europe judging beauty and singing contests. She lives with a wealthy boyfriend in Beverly Hills and has little contact with her siblings.
Rebbie married successful businessman Nathaniel Brown.
Sounds like this would make a great episode of VH1’s “Behind the Music.”
No cameras, please

Pamela Anderson’s estranged husband Rick Salomon, has filed his own annulment suit to dissolve their five-month marriage, only eight weeks of which they were together. His wife filed for annulment last month.
They say great minds think alike. Both Anderson and Salomon claim fraud as reason for their split. They are also stars of two of the most famous at-home sex tapes. The Baywatch babe taped some intimate moments on a boat with then hubby drummer Tommy Lee and Salomon, 40, appeared in a sex tape with heiress Paris Hilton. He was also previously married to former “Beverly Hills, 90210” actress Shannen Doherty.
In December Anderson, wrote on her web site that the couple were “working things out”. However, she also filed for divorce that month.
Third time was no charm for Anderson, who besides Salomon and Lee was married to Kid Rock.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has denied a report by the "Los Angeles Times" that his associates were responsible for the 1994 robbery and shooting of Tupac Shakur at a New York recording studio, and that he knew about the attack in advance.
“The story is a lie,” the hip-hop mogul said in a statement Monday. “It is beyond ridiculous and completely false. Neither (the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.) nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during or after it happened. ... I am shocked that the Los Angeles Times would be so irresponsible as to publish such a baseless and completely untrue story.”
The 1994 shooting triggered the celebrated feud between East and West Coast rappers that led to the killings of Shakur and B.I.G.
The Times said its story was based on FBI records, interviews with people at the scene of the 1994 shooting, and statements to the FBI by an informant. None of the sources were named. The story says associates hoping to curry favor with Combs — who was overseeing B.I.G.’s white-hot career at the time — lured Shakur to the studio because of his disrespect toward them.
The story said that talent manager James Rosemond and promoter James Sabatino arranged the assault. They and Combs declined to be interviewed for the story, which appeared on the Los Angeles Times Web site but not in its paper publication.
Rosemond called the story a “libelous piece of garbage.”
“In the past 14 years, I have not even been questioned by law enforcement with regard to the assault of Tupac Shakur, let alone brought up on charges,” he said in a statement. “Chuck Philips, the writer ... has reached a new low by employing fourth-hand information from desperate jailhouse informants along with ancient FBI reports to create this fabrication. I simply ask for all rap fans and fans of Tupac to analyze this fiction for what it is.”
What do you think? Was Diddy in on 2Pac's murder? Were 2Pac and Biggie's demise connected?
Beatle ex gets a leg up in divorce battle

In the words of Kanye West, I ain’t saying she’s a gold digger. But...
It was a happy St. Patrick’s Day for the former Mrs. Paul McCartney. A judge awarded Heather Mills a total of $48.6 million in the financial settlement of her divorce from Sir Paul.
A document released by the Family Court said the judge awarded Mills a lump sum of $33 million plus the assets she currently holds worth $15.6 million.
“I’m so, so happy with this,” Mills told reporters following the closed hearing.
You didn’t think she would be that upset — did you?
The court also ruled that the couple’s 4-year-old daughter, Beatrice, should receive a “periodical payments order” of $70,000 per annum. On top of that, McCartney will pay for the child’s nanny and school fees.
Mills had sought almost $250 million, while McCartney had said she should receive $31.6 million, including her own assets, which the court assessed at $15.6 million.
Judge Hugh Bennett found that the total value of all of McCartney’s assets, including his business assets, was about $800 million. He said there was no evidence to support the widely published figure that was more than twice as much.
McCartney left the court without making any statement. His ex on the other hand, had a lot to say at an impromptu news conference following the decision.
“I’m so glad it’s over. It was an incredible result in the end to secure mine and my daughter’s future and that of all the charities that I obviously plan on helping and making a difference with — because you know it has been my life for 20 years,” she said.
“Obviously the court do not want a litigant in person to do well, it’s against everything that they ever wish, so when they write the judgment up they’re never going to make it look in favor. But all of you that have researched know that it was always going to be a figure between 20 and 30 million (pounds), Paul was offering a lot less than that, which you’ll see in the judgment, and very much last minute to put me and Beatrice sadly through this ... incredibly sad.”
Halle Berry’s new role: mommy

Halle Berry doesn’t just play a mom in movies anymore.
The 41-year-old actress gave birth to a baby girl Sunday and “is doing great,” her publicist Meredith O’Sullivan told People.com.
It’s a first child for both Berry and her boytoy, 32-year-old model Gabriel Aubry. The two met while shooting a Versace ad in Los Angeles two years ago. Like most of Hollywood’s new parents, Berry has said she and Aubry have no plans to marry, but are fully committed to each other.
The actress told Oprah Winfrey on her show last year that playing a mother in her latest movie, Things We Lost in the Fire helped convince her that motherhood was for her.
“I think it validated that I was meant to be a mother because every day I dealt with the character as a mother and thinking as a mother,” Berry said. “It let me know that I must be a mother.”
Spears pal order to stay away — again

Britney Spears’ hanger-on, Sam Lutfi, has agreed to stay away from the dethroned pop princess for at least another month, delaying a hearing that could have made a restraining order against him permanent.
Lutfi and conservators for the Spears estate agreed to have the restraining order extended for 30 days, Lutfi spokesman Michael Sands said Sunday.
“There is an agreement between Sam Lutfi and the conservatorship for the next 30 days,” Sands said. “Both parties are happy and will continue to work together to further resolve any issues that may have come up in the past.”
A Superior Court commissioner last month ordered Lutfi to stay 250 yards from Spears and her home.
Spears’ mother, Lynne, requested the order based on allegations that Lutfi — Spears’ frequent companion and sometime manager — had held the singer hostage in her own home, drugged her and taken over her finances.
Spears’ father, Jamie, was named one of two co-conservators of her estate after the singer was hospitalized twice in January. The conservatorship has been extended until July 31.

Getting locked up in a padded cell is the new black. Following in the foot steps of Britney Spears, "Jackass" alum Steve-O was put in a Los Angeles hospital for a 72 hour observation TMZ.com is reporting.
This comes after the prankster who snorted wasabi up his nose in one stunt was charged with felony possession of cocaine.
Steve-O, whose real name is Stephen Glove, was arrested March 3 at his Hollywood home for investigation of vandalism and possession of a controlled substance. He allegedly had a small quantitiy f drugs on him.
Lunch Date
If there is any day of the week to grab lunch out in downtown Lowell, today would be the day. Billy Costa of TV Diner and his chipper blonde assistant, Jenny Johnson, will be chowing down at five Mill City eateries this afternoon.
Grab your 15 minutes of fame as the TV and radio personality ventures what they dub “Delicious Destinations.” Those include Cobblestones, Centro, the Blue Taleh, Caffé Paradiso, and Athenian Corner.
You could get your mug on the New England Cable news program. Just make sure there isn’t any spinach in your teeth. See if you made the final cut when the Lowell segment airs Saturday, March 22, at 10 a.m. and then again at 7 p.m. on NECN.
Funky Fashion

Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson all have made their way through Chelmsford— their clothing line that is. Now add Avril Lavigne to the roster.
The punk princess joins a never-ending list of celeb-turned-designers with a clothing line exclusively for Kohl’s department stores. “Abbey Dawn” will hit the juniors department this spring. The label’s moniker comes from Lavigne’s childhood nickname.
“I actually am the designer,” she told Newsweek for editions on newsstands yesterday. “I try everything on and approve it all.”
That means plenty of hot pink, skulls and studs.
Best Comedic Performance
Jon Stewart will reprise his role as host, this time for the “Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education” on April 13. It maybe no Oscars, but comedic heavy weights Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert, Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler will share the stage with Stewart.
The second biannual event at the Beacon Theater in New York, will air live on Comedy Central 8 p.m. The night will feature standup routines, sketches and short films from a gluttony of comic talent that also includes Matthew Broderick, Jonah Hill, Kevin James, Rosie O’Donnell and Susie Essman.
It’s the second such benefit and was organized in part due to Robert Smigel, whose son, Daniel, is autistic. Smigel’s most famous character, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, will also be attendance.
The night will raise money for schools and education programs for autistic children and adults. A portion of the proceeds will also go to the advocacy group Autism Speaks. The first “Night of Too Many Stars,” held in October 2006, raised more than $2.6 million.
It was also the first event to air live on Comedy Central. This year’s broadcast will also be streamed online the day after. A $1.99 download of the show will be available on iTunes and xBox Live Marketplace, with all proceeds going to charity.
A little stripper told me...

Hold the poles! Are the Sopranos returning to the big screen soon?
The real-life manager of the strip club that fronted for the Bada Bing on HBO’s “The Sopranos” thinks there might be. Satin Dolls manager Nick D’Urso says he’s holding off on renovations to the strip club in Lodi, N.J., after getting a tip that a movie would be made. Like anyone involved with the Sopranos — he wouldn’t name names.
An HBO spokeswoman says there’s no truth to the rumor that plans are in the works for a film about Tony, Paulie, Carmella, Meadow and A.J.
D’Urso says he’ll wait until after the summer to renovate in case the tip pans out.
Satin Dolls has already auctioned off its bronze-colored stripper poles and replaced them.
