
Madonna may not have a baby daddy any longer but she is keeping her baby — or at least adopting another.
An official at the Malawi welfare department said the pop star had filed adoption papers. Another person in Malawi close to the case said Madonna would be there this weekend and a court could hear her adoption case as soon as Monday.
A U.S. government official confirmed that an adoption bid by Madonna was under way.
Madonna’s adoption of her Malawian son David in 2008 raised questions about whether rules had been broken for the singer because foreign adoptions were not allowed in Malawi.
There are now new concerns that rules again will be broken for the newly divorced Madonna as Malawi also does not approve adoptions for single or divorced parents.
There have been rumors for some time that Madonna wanted to adopt a girl from Malawi, where she also runs a charity, Raising Malawi.
