Stay safe!

As last month's storm approached, we published the following survival guide. It's worth printing out now, in case the power goes out again ....
You lost heat and electricity
* National Grid restores power to essential facilities, such as hospitals, police and fire stations, first. Second is repairs to high-voltage transmission lines and substations. Downed or damaged electrical wires between utility poles and homes are usually repaired last.
* Call National Grid's toll-free New England outage reporting line: 1-800-465-1212
* People who depend on electric-powered life support equipment, such as respirators, should call: 1-800-322-3223
* National Grid's Storm Central: https://www1.nationalgridus.com/masselectric/storm/storm.aspx
A tree fell on your property
* If the tree has fallen on power lines, call National Grid.
* If the tree is on a public sidewalk or road, call your town or city hall.
* If a tree falls on a vehicle on your property, the tree removal might be covered under home insurance. For vehicle damages, call your auto insurer.
* Your local phone book lists professionals under Tree Service.
Your basement is flooded
* To locate essential help services in your community, call MASS 211 or 1-877-211-MASS (6277) to find them. This alternative to 9-1-1 has research agents to locate help fast.
* Some Home Depot stores rent sump pumps by the hour or by the day. Call 978-640-0400, or visit www.homedepot.com
You see downed power lines
* Never touch them! They still could be live.
* Call 9-1-1.
