ANSWER QUESTION: Jim Ogonowski's Oct. 3 statement on SCHIP is typical of attack politics today -- "it is all someone else's fault." If he wants me to consider voting for him, he will publicly state specifics of what is wrong with the bill, exactly what fixes he wants to see made, and that he will vote for a bill with these fixes. And his statement should include what level of funding he will vote for. It's time for Mr. Ogonowski to tell us what he stands for -- not against!

NOT FOR THE BETTER: Beth Kalhauser, former Tyngsboro Council on Aging director, would never have made such an inappropriate decision. Beth ran our center for a good 50 years and never do I remember her closing the center for anyone taking medical leave or going on vacation. Beth's No. 1 priority was always the seniors. I guess times have changed.

WRONG LOCATION: Attorney Lentine and his clients can whine all they want. Billerica Center is not the right place for Home Depot. No other town would even consider this.

RECUSE: I cannot believe Bob Casey thinks he shouldn't have to recuse himself from the Home Depot vote. He has made it perfectly clear he does not hold the best interest of Billerica at heart but the best interest of his neighborhood.

AIM FOR ACCURACY: The sidebar on the front page of Monday's paper has a small headline in the national section that says "Gun rampage." It makes it sound as if a gun committed an act on its own. Why not call it what it is, such as "Disgruntled cop rampage?" I suppose that would step on the wrong toes. I guess it is easier to let legitimate gun owners take the blame.

ROOKIE OF YEAR: Chaz's article about the 2007 Red Sox in review was well written but missed an important point. Dustin Pedroia will be AL Rookie of the year. The last two Sox named over his 35 years were Fisk and Nomar. Good company!
