NO CASINOS: Does Massachusetts want to be known for promoting compulsive gambling? The money has to come from another source. Does Gov. Patrick want to be known as the one who promoted the gambling problems of our residents? He should think about personal responsibility.
Lowell
DISAPPOINTED: What is going on? Churches are closing everywhere, and businessmen are fighting for casinos. For shame, for shame.
Dracut
KEEP THE FLAG: About the flag pole in Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica: After seeing that flag, it looks absolutely beautiful. Since the land is town property, with the consent of the family, possibly the family could give the flag to the town. Because it would become town property, it would prevent others from doing the same thing. We hope the flag stays.
Billerica
A GOOD TIME: Townsend's 275th anniversary parade was great. Great crowd; fantastic floats. Congratulations to the committee for putting on such a great parade. I'm sure everyone enjoyed it.
Groton
NO ADMITTANCE: Why did the U.S. allow the Iranian president to come to this country? Don't we have a responsibility to our armed forces and their families? Why should we protect him while he is here? They should have let him fend for himself like every American has to do, instead of using taxpayer money.
Lowell
POSITIVE EXAMPLE: Hat's off to the new Tyngsboro police chief. I've seen nothing but good, positive leadership. Let's hope other chiefs take note of his performance. The region has suffered enough from ineffective police chiefs.
Tyngsboro
A SAD LOSS: I praise Dave Perry, Jon Hill and Bill Bridgeford for the wonderful story and pictures on Kelly Page, the Lowell firefighter who lost his life. It was so well written and made you feel you were there. They should all win awards. May his family have peace in all the years to come. Kelly will never leave their hearts.
Tewksbury
PRIORITIES: The Notre Dame football coach, Charlie Weiss, should spend more time recruiting and less time suing his doctors in Boston. Maybe his team would have better results.
Acton
BRING TROOPS HOME: It's long past time for the U.S. to bring our troops home from Iraq. They have done all that we asked of them and more, now let them come home to their families.
Wilmington
