The Music Hall in Portsmouth, N.H., was built in 1878, and it’s one of the oldest operating theaters in the United States. Season after season, they keep bringing great performances to the Seacoast (and those of us lucky enough to live within driving distance of it). Last week, the Music Hall announced their 2008-2009 season, and it’s another doozie.
Here are some of the artists scheduled to perform:
September 26-27 – Yard Dogs Road Show
They’re calling it a Moulin Rouge rock show – vaudeville, burlesque, magic, sword swallowing, and beatnik poetry, all set to the music of the Yard Dogs. What, no tigers?
October 2 – KD Lang
Ya heard of her, right?
November 14 – Off the Beaten Path: Jazz and Tap Odyssey
Tap dancers with a jazz quartet. Look, I promise the list gets better. Keep reading.
December 14 – Kenneth Kiesler Conducts the Holiday Pops
See?
December 21 – Leahy Family Celtic Christmas
Celtic Christmas music – sa-weeeeet!
February 14, 2009 – Simone
Whoa, the daughter of Nina, doing a sexy Valentine’s Day show! Hubba hubba!
March 29, 2009 – Cherryholmes
The new first family of bluegrass, supposedly. Who was the old one?
April 19, 2009 – Philip Glass: An Evening of Chamber Music
‘Nuff said.
June 11 – RAIN: The Beatles Experience
Yes, it’s another Beatles tribute band. Why aren’t there any Wings tribute bands???
You get a better shot at tix if you’re a member, so maybe you should join. It might be worth it.
